We lived in this building for almost a year, in a one-bedroom apartment. The apartment was new, the building was quiet, the elevator worked perfectly, and the neighborhood was so peaceful that we barely ran into anyone. The pool area is clean and pleasant. There is also a space with two grills where residents can prepare barbecues. On hotter days, you may need to wait for someone else to finish using the grill before starting yours. The location is excellent: there is an Aldi just 3 minutes away, and a Walgreens and Starbucks about 5 minutes away. You can easily walk to Walgreens. The building is pet-friendly. I noticed that after a carpet was added to the elevator, the dog smell became a bit stronger, but nothing that prevented us from using it. The building has a non-smoking policy; however, in the last few months we could occasionally smell people smoking, especially when we were on our balcony. My only suggestion would be to create a designated smoking area, as it can be difficult to fully enforce a complete ban. Our only complaint during our entire stay was about the gym. Unfortunately, many residents do not put the weights back after using them, so most of the time the gym was disorganized. We spoke with the staff member, but we understand that organization should ultimately be the responsibility of the residents. If we were to move back to the area, we would definitely choose to live in this building again.

I have been very satisfied with my apartment, the property, and the location. The staff is friendly and helpful. They are responsive to any issues that arise, and they do their best to make everyone feel welcome.

EDIT: I have included pictures of the clubhouse and business center rental prices. If my review appears substandard for those reading it, please consider the manner of the responses the property has left for residents that have taken to Google Reviews; it provides an indication of the professionalism exhibited here. Do not waste your money. The Gentry at Hurstbourne was previously an upscale apartment complex with a nice, local feel. Over a year ago, management changed, and honestly, much of the apartment's charm has been lost. While the apartments are clean, semi-modern, and pest-free, the amenities and new management staff are abysmal. The maintenance of common areas is downright pitiful. Since the new management took over, The Gentry has started charging for the use of the clubhouse and office area for group gatherings, even though they continue to raise rent for residents. They also refuse to keep the clubhouse looking or smelling clean. Upon entering the clubhouse area, the overwhelming smell of urine and waste hits you, and it can even be detected in the mail area. The Gentry has also been encouraging residents to pick up pet waste – a completely reasonable request – but removed the pet waste bins from the property with no timeline or expectations for when they will be replaced. For now, they expect residents to dispose of pet waste in civilian trash cans located right by the entry and exit gates to the apartments. I was hopeful that new management would be able to take over from previous management, but the effort has been disastrous. Often, when I call or walk down to the main building for assistance during posted 'business hours,' no one answers or they have closed early for the day without any notice. Their attempts at change have caused them to ruin much of what was good about the complex. Although management tries to create a facade, issues like poor paint jobs on the gates and broken trash compactors that go unfixed for over a week overshadow their efforts. I couldn’t be more disappointed by how quickly the complex has declined. I have expressed my concerns to management about several of these issues, and each time, I am met with the same response: "We are working on it," with no timeline or solution in sight. As stated in the first sentence, do not waste your money on this complex unless you're willing to endure a subpar living experience. There's no reason to pay for amenities and services that you can’t benefit from. Be cautious when considering this complex and take the time to read the reviews carefully.

Today I met Fred, the maintenance supervisor, while I toured and he was very friendly. Anna made me feel right at home and had me laughing. I love her sweet dog, it’s definitely pet friendly here! The entire staff was nice, you can tell they have a great team. Looking forward to my move in date.
