  If I could give zero stars, I would. My wife and I visited Clayton Homes of Glasgow after seeing a used single‑wide listed at $49,000. We toured it, liked it, and were told a $1,000 deposit would hold it. I brought the deposit in the next business day and immediately began completing my responsibilities: plot plan, septic release, electrical evaluation, and working through a title issue on my current home. We were told everything was moving forward, but then received a message saying our deposit would be refunded because we were “denied for the amount.” This was confusing because the lender had not told us that. Later that same night, our approval increased to more than enough to buy the home. The next morning, the lender confirmed they were still working on our file — but by then, the home had already been sold to someone else. When our financing finalized, we were approved for around $149k, and nearly every home we were shown afterward was priced right around that number. We were also quoted almost $30k in removal fees for our existing home and over $2,000 for utility hookups that should cost far less with existing infrastructure. When picking up my refund (issued as a paper check a week later), I was met with dismissive comments about renovation and “playing the real estate game,” even though we live on family land and renovation would be far cheaper for us. Overall, the experience left us feeling pushed toward a much more expensive home we didn’t want. Based on our experience, I personally would not choose to work with Clayton Homes of Glasgow again.
