I've lived at Warrick Trail for a little over a year now and I've held my tongue until now. I pay $1555 for a 2/2 with a lake view. Everything seems glamorous at first, but this place has been nothing short of a hassle. I understand this is a large community and there are only a handful of people on payroll to help with these sorts of situations, but as a tenant I expect a certain level of respect and appropriate response when problems arise. The most recent issue I have had has been with the toilet in the master bathroom: feces ridden water started pouring out of the toilet. It happened after hours, so I called emergency maintenance. They promptly returned my call only to say that the problem wouldn't be fixed until the morning - that was 48 hours ago. They have yet to show up. Moving on to the next thing: my hot water.
It runs hot and steamy for a solid 5 minutes, then ice cold. Maintenance has been out a handful of times to address the problem throughout the year, but all they're doing is slapping a band-aid on the issue. After a supposed repair job, it then goes on to run hot for 10 minutes, then a few weeks later I'm back to having cold water. This is not just a problem in the bathrooms, but with the sink water as well. I prefer to wash my dishes with hot water, and if I wash my dishes for longer than a few minutes I then can't take a hot shower. Next up: my A/C. It goes out more than a person that recently turned 21.
More times than not, the A/C seemingly fixes itself, but maintenance has been out twice now, and they can't seem to fully diagnose what is causing the outages. That's not all. In the living room there are 3 large panel windows facing the lake. Every time it rains water pours in through the seals and leaves large puddles that span halfway across the living space. Maintenance came out upon request once to fix the issue to no avail. Now all they can do is come in and vacuum up the puddles. I can't leave anything plugged into the extension cords in that half of the unit because it then turns into a fire hazard. It's rained a lot & l'm not home 24/7 to clean up spills; I'm tired of cleaning up puddles. Next. A few months after moving into the unit I went to go plug something into an outlet. Ants came pouring out of the socket. I contacted the leasing office and was told Black Diamond Pest Control wouldn't be able to come out until later that week. I handled the issue myself. I am by no means an electrician, but that seems like a fire hazard. The ants are gone now so I'm simply trying to make a point with all this. I can tolerate the dog poop ridden grounds, I can tolerate the misallocation of funds for community events, I can tolerate the lack of communication between tenants and staff, I can tolerate the wavering amenity hours, I can tolerate many of the things that are wrong with this complex but I will not tolerate a faulty unit when it's at the expense of my quality of life. These are A rated apartments after all, are they not? I'm not quite finished. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought to gain entry to a unit staff was supposed to give a 24-hour notice. Again, maybe I'm wrong, but a staff member entered my unit 3-4 days ago and I certainly did not receive notice. I was not dressed. My message to the staff is this: I have paid you over $15,000 over the course of my stay here, PLEASE HELP. I take great pride in handling things like an adult, but after a year with no change I'm resorting to other means.
