We sold our family home and downsized to a luxury apartment in downtown Wheaton. Management was horrible, maintenance was out months, garbage disgusting, elevators were rarely cleaned and rents were increasing a lot! Then we found Winfield Station... We just completed our 3rd year here and -- what a difference! The management team (Jeannette and Patti) could not be better. They are available, responsive, friendly, caring and really make an effort to make this a community. When we had an issue with a neighbor, they had our back! They were respectful, supportive and resolved the issue quickly. The Maintenance crew is amazing. The halls and elevators are cleaned daily. Garbage rooms are clean, and when they back up, maintenance takes care of cleaning them up. The grill area and the grills are cleaned at least weekly. Maintenance requests are often handled same-day. The location is perfect. We have a beautiful view of the river and lots of green space. We have direct access to the Prairie Path for walking and biking. They have clean, secure bike storage. The annual cycle criterion goes right past the apartment. We can walk to several restaurants and the hospital. We can walk to the many events that Winfield has like free concerts in the summer. The train is loud on our side, but it's also SO convenient. We have guests visiting downtown Chicago hop on the train and come out to see us. I work in Wheaton, and often just take the train the one stop instead of taking the car. We can also take the train west out to Geneva for dinner. This is maintenance-free living with a great staff and friendly residents. It is a clean and safe community, conveniently located. We highly recommend this apartment community.

I’ve lived here for 2 going on 3 years now. The community spaces are kept clean throughout the week, and mostly everyone in the building is friendly towards one another. Additionally, I’ve never had any issues such as “missing” packages from our mail room despite the packages being on open shelving. I saw someone mention race may determine interactions; personally I’ve never felt that way in my time here. Maintenance is responsive and quick to fix any issues. Rent rates are competitive for the market and stay manageable lease to lease (no crazy mark ups). My unit had very minor cosmetic issues when I moved in, and they give you a sheet to express any concerns you see upon move in. Every apartment has their own washer/dryer & thermostat. Unlike other buildings in the area, AC/Heat is available year round and one is not sacrificed for the other on a seasonal basis. This is particularly important in a state that can never make up its mind on the weather. As for the train, if you live on the North side of the building, I’ve heard that it can be a challenge. However, the South side (where my unit is) has never been an issue. Occasionally, I can feel a slight rumble when a heavy freight rolls past or the distant bells of the Metra, but it’s not disruptive. I hardly notice it anymore personally. The walls *can* be on the thinner side. I say that with mild concern. I can’t hear my neighbor’s conversations, but if they laugh hysterically or scream and my apartment is quiet then yes I can hear it, but only if I’m next to the shared wall. Never hear downstairs neighbors nor upstairs asides from the occasional footstep or vacuum (which is a very quieted noise). I can hear people in the hallway if they’re talking or the distant ding of an elevator, but being on any floor above the first level, and it’s practically a non-issue. The management at the building is incredible. Patti is always trying her best to help residents in any way she can. She’s always supportive, especially so to her residents with disabilities. Jeanette is always smiling and willing to listen to any concerns we may have. Jeanette also labels every package that comes in so that it’s easier for residents to find them.

The apartment itself is very nice, and the location is wonderful with minimal traffic. One thing to note is that the building is located right next to train tracks, so if you keep your windows open you will definitely hear the train, and at times you can even feel slight movement from the building when it passes. Also, depending on traffic and the train schedule, you can occasionally get stuck at the nearby light. My apartment had a few small cosmetic issues upon move-in, but maintenance was very responsive and communicated effectively. Every time I submitted a work order, they were willing to come quickly to either repair or replace what was needed, which I really appreciated. I came from Oak Park and I have resided in numerous luxury apartments with no noise issues or restrictions. The walls and flooring here are fairly thin, so you can hear quite a bit throughout the day. There are quiet hours in place, but I would especially keep this in mind if you have children or frequently have family members with children visiting. I did have one incident regarding noise. I have a one-bedroom apartment to, and it is extremely spacious. One downside is that the recycling chute has been broken, so residents currently have to take recycling downstairs manually. I also deal with pretty bad allergies that seem to flare up more at night. I’m not sure if it’s because the building may be close to a lake, pond, or another environmental factor, but it’s something I’ve noticed since living here. Overall, the apartment is nice, spacious, clean.

We lived here for 2.5 years and just recently moved out. We LOVED our time in Winfield. I will miss all the counter space and kitchen storage. Management was very helpful and responsive if any issues came up. The portal to submit a maintenance request was very easy to use and usually all our requests were completed within 48 hours (business days). We used the pool and gym amenities often. We made friends with our neighbors and never had any issues! People respected quiet hours and were easy to live next to. The downtown area is small but very walkable! I feel like Winfield is up and coming and that was a perfect place for an apartment complex! The property is well taken care of and honestly, it was reasonably priced compared to other apartment complexes in Wheaton/Glen Ellyn. We moved to Winfield because a friend already lived at the apartment complex and recommended it. After moving in, we convinced two other friends to move in. We will always speak highly of Winfield station and will 100% recommend to anyone. Living next to the train station is a huge perk! Check out Berger bros and sugar mamas if you’re touring the property !!
