My husband & I just recently moved out of Gurnee Glen after over a year of living there. We were one of the first residents. In full transparency, it is a good apartment complex. However, you can hear EVERYTHING your neighbors do. Whether you’re on the first floor, second floor, wherever, you can hear it. I lived on the first floor & the normal footsteps were LOUD. My neighbor next to us would blare music next to our heads when we tried to sleep at night. If I went upstairs to chat with neighbors, I could hear music through the floor boards. I could even hear my neighbors down the hall yelling, playing music, whatever it was I could hear it. It’s paper thin essentially, so if you’re noise sensitive take that into account. (I understand it’s an apartment complex so you will hear people, but I’ve lived in complex’s before this & it was more muffled & I couldn’t hear everything). On top of this, we paid a $150 amenity fee for a pool we were unable to use because the state didn’t approve it in time for summer. A small gym with two treadmills, dumbbells that only went up to 50 lbs, a cable machine, an elliptical, & a small area to do yoga. Trash service where they park in a handicap spot to do said service. The amenity fee also covered WiFi & the WiFi was really good I will say. There’s also a dog park but it’s a small, fenced in area covered with mulch only, so if you have a dog that is high energy, it’s not much use. There’s a loop you can walk your dogs on, but everyone is walking that loop so if your dog is reactive it will be difficult. The apartment itself is pretty, & I especially loved the kitchen but even though we were the first residents in our unit, our bathroom door would jam, & for the amount of money you pay each month it’s a relatively small apartment. This is just my honest opinion.
