My family and I have lived here for 10 years, and have never been late on the rent. The first property manager was a wonderful woman. The current one is a callous person who is forcing my family out. My wife and I are up in years and not well, and my adult daughter who lives with us has autism. The property manager is refusing to renew our lease.
I've lived here for 2 years, and this place has many positives and negatives. The area is great, and the units themselves are very nice. They're just a bit run down, so there are a lot of issues. The maintenance guy Dave is really nice and will go out of his way for you. However, getting them to respond to a maintenance request is like pulling teeth. Unless it's an emergency, which they respond to very quickly, they take months to respond, if ever. I feel like if they hired more maintenance staff and did a better job of upkeeping, this place would be amazing. There is also a train directly behind some of the units, which is very loud, but you get used to it.

Best place to rent in DeKalb by miles! Very clean townhomes, has one of the best property managers in Lynn. Never had any problems with neighbors, in the winter the back was plowed almost immediately and even though Fatty's is located right behind the noise isn't bad. Very fast repairs. Our washer broke while I was living there and it was replaced in a week without any questions.10/10 would go back again especially since every other rental place in DeKalb is garbage.
I do not understand the negative review on here at all concerning Prairie Creek. They are one of the best leasing offices I have ever dealt with, let alone in the slumlord-ridden land of DeKalb. The office staff always went out of their way to help me. Everything was always repaired faster than anywhere I've ever lived. I was so sad to move out of there. The properties are kept in excellent condition, compared to most of the other rental properties in DeKalb. The only reason I left is because of a break-up, and I plan to move back to Prairie Creek if I can find a roommate. Compared to the rest of DeKalb, this area is very quiet. The townhouses are separated by cinderblock, which reduces noise to almost zero, and protects you against fire hazards. Between the washer and dryer, dishwasher, skylight, huge vaulted ceilings, 2-car garage, and everything else, this place is definitely worth the rent. The lawns are always kept up, and the repair guys were always prompt and friendly. Additionally, the area is very safe compared to the rest of DeKalb. The neighborhood is mostly upscale residential, and many police live in the neighborhood. The Knolls is the antithesis of the Greek Row area. The office staff even went so far as to write a letter of recommendation for me when it came time to move. I was a resident there for 2 years, and I fully endorse Prairie Creek!
