I am thankful to have had the privilege and pleasure of calling The Streeter my home for the last fourteen-plus years.
As other Reviewers have said, the management and staff at The Streeter make this property stand out. The Property Manager and his team have always been professional, friendly, and extremely helpful and responsive. The building engineers and facilities staff have been exemplary. As a concrete example, I discovered water beneath the refrigerator early one Saturday morning. A building engineer and another staff member were at my unit immediately. They diagnosed and fixed the issue on the spot and even mopped up the water. The staff are friendly and professional. There is no fear in asking for help. The building is well-managed and well-maintained.
A few remarks about the neighborhood for those considering moving to the area: The Streeter's location is very convenient. It is a stone's throw from a large, academic medical center (and urgent care). Several grocery stores are within easy walking distance. One can catch a bus out front (Grand/McClurg) to the CTA Blue Line station and from there, hop on a train to O'Hare. Multiple bus options are available to the Loop/Union Station. I go to church in the neighborhood--there are different houses of worship are nearby. In general, Streeterville is among the safest neighborhoods in the city. But, living in the city, it behooves a person to be mindful of their surroundings at all times. This is a general comment pertaining to living in Chicago and is not a specific comment on The Streeter.
Both studio floorplans that I have lived in have been very generous. Community amenities that I have used and greatly appreciated include the gym, the computer cluster (free printing/photocopying within reason), the secure-access package room and the coin-operated commercial laundry for washing blankets/comforters.
The courtyard has become a beautiful centerpiece over the years. When I first moved in more than a decade ago, there was no tree canopy to speak of. Now, one can look forward to vibrant fall foliage each year. For such an urban location, the courtyard has hosted an unexpected variety of birds. It varies from year to year, but in the spring, there have been white throated sparrows, wood thrushes, Tennessee and Nashville warblers, catbirds as well as the usual suspects. Navy Pier—just down the street—can be a surprisingly good place to spot some passing birds. Last year, a seasoned birder pointed out a Kirtland's Warbler to me there. My friend and I also spotted some black-and-white warblers and common yellowthroats. Maggie Daley Park is just over the river with more birds (kinglets, flickers and hawks, oh my!), free summer concerts, workouts and more. Lincoln Park and Lincoln Park Zoo are a nice walk in the other direction.
I am relocating out of state to be closer to elderly family members. Otherwise, I would hope to continue living at The Streeter. Even in this process, the Property Manager and Operations Manager have been very gracious and helpful. I have grown to trust the management and staff at The Streeter over these many years.
I’ve lived in three other apartment buildings in Chicago and The Streeter has been just the right the kind of home for me —unobtrusive, dependable, comfortable and in my experience, safe. Based on what I have experienced, I would say that the staff have been effective in creating a place where you can go about your life without the concerns of home ownership.
My sincerest thanks, appreciation and very best wishes to everyone on The Streeter Team—past and present—for making it such a wonderful place to call home.
