I’ve lived in this building for over 5 years now. It has its ups and downs, but for the most part it’s not too bad. Bugs here or there in the mailroom/laundry area. Connectivity issues with the app connected wifi washer and dryers. Glitches with the app connected wifi access locks(that anyone employee can use to enter your apartment, but can also cause you to be locked out of and be stuck outside your apartment for almost 3 hours after having just got off work) Poor communication with tenants (meaning days go by and you have to follow up to even receive a response) Really slow elevators. Annoying garbage shoot doors. People smoking crack out in the courtyard by the church. That sort of thing.
There have been several TERRIBLE management companies that have come before RMK, but they have taken the cake for the worst to date at this point. Simply for the mishandling of the following occurrences. The previous manager, Nate, was the only redeeming quality. But he unfortunately left because RMK apparently treated him just as poorly as tenants are currently being treated, then they promoted his lazy, rude and unhelpful boss, Fred, who no one was sad to see go.
Recently I have had 2 security breaches in my apartment by staff entering my apartment without my knowledge. Within a 2 week time period. Once while I was changing and getting ready for work in the morning and 4 random people walk in, and the other after I had allowed them access to spray for pests. (an annoying occurrence that happens at the beginning of every month starting at 8a.m.)The worker then CAME BACK IN, after I had left for work, without a word from anyone. Come to find out, the explanation I get is that it was an “outside vendor” that the building management wasn’t aware were coming. And that’s all I’m left with. Not even an apology. Just “we understand”.
Frankly, if security is an issue for you, don’t rent here. All I’m getting are “assurances” that this won’t happen again. But I have very little faith in those assurances at this time, simply from personal experience. I was told I would receive a contact email to reach out to a higher supervisor, and that didn’t end up happening. So all I can do is warn others of the potential risks of living here. Be prepared to feel the need to buy a Ring camera and have it on at all times when you aren’t home. THAT is where I’m at, paying $1565 a month for a studio.
