My husband and I have been at the Elle for almost two years now and we really loved it the first year. We were excited to resign our lease for the second year. However, over the past 6 months or so, things have really gone downhill here.
My biggest complaint, along with other residents, is the pool situation this summer. We specifically chose this community because of the pool area amenities. We had never lived in an amenities building before, so we were super excited for this and used it all the time in 2025. Then this year rolls around and we’re alerted late in May that due to a permit delay, the pool is going to be delayed in opening. And now it’s late July and it’s seeming like it’s not going to be open at all this summer. Management blames this on the city, but after reading over 80 Reddit comments on a post about delayed pool openings this summer, it sounds like there are only a handful of buildings that are having the same issues. Residents at other buildings claim no delay to pool openings or that their management closed pools a bit early last year to address new permitting requirements. I don’t pretend to know all the details and red tape that goes into opening a pool for a community like this. But it’s interesting that some community management appeared to be more proactive than The Elle’s.
Beyond that, there was a recent fire on the 21st floor. Of course this isn’t management’s fault, but in their original email about the incident they mentioned water damage to the 21st and 20th floor. Then another email letting residents know a restoration service team was on site assessing damage and putting in dehumidifier machines. At no point did they mention this team would be entering apartments beyond the 20th and 21st floors, yet this restoration team entered my apartment on the 9th floor with no warning, freaking my pets out (who were home alone) while they rolled this big, loud machine into our apartment. And now this machine must run 24/7, “until the restoration company has inspected the unit and given clearance for the equipment to be removed”, whatever that means.
And if it was just one of these things, I wouldn’t be leaving this review. But between the issues above, a hot mess key fob switchover where now apparently we’re all just carrying two fobs around, wondering which one will work on which door (and why did this switch happen? Nobody knows), frequent broken gym equipment, and the fact that a portion of the parking garage was damaged and is now hanging over a sidewalk with absolutely no updates on when and how this is getting fixed (besides saying MONTHS ago it would be fixed ASAP), it’s just really getting hard to not speak out.
Perhaps what irks me the most is the lack of ownership from management on these issues. It’s always someone else’s fault. The toner was delayed for the printer! Not, we ordered the toner too late. The pool isn’t opened because of the city’s delay in permitting! Not, we own our part in this delay. The event was canceled and we tried to tell you all but there was a malfunction in our email system! Not, we forgot to email you guys or we forgot to check and make sure the email actually went out. Management, if you take anything from this review, it should be that residents appreciate accountability.
It honestly makes me nervous to post this before moving out but I feel the need to express the issues here before more people move in without knowing about the recent issues. I hope management takes this feedback from myself and other residents and uses it to improve moving forward. Because this place has a lot of potential! But for now, I’m counting down the days until our lease is over.
On a positive note, I will say the front desk staff is really lovely and I’m typically impressed with the speed of our elevators, but I’m on the 9th floor so can’t speak to higher floors.
At the bare minimum, if you’re thinking about moving in here, you should ask how these issues are being corrected moving forward.

READ THE NEWEST REVIEWS BEFORE SIGNING A LEASE!
We’ve lived here for 3 years and this will absolutely be our last.
The biggest issue is resident safety. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS BUILDING TO WOMEN, especially if you live alone or use the gym. Management repeatedly failed to meaningfully address my sexual harassment complaint against an employee and never provided a substantive response. I only learned it was addressed by asking another employee. An older review shows this isn’t isolated.
Privacy is treated just as carelessly. Instead of providing unit-specific entry dates, management gives a 1–2 week window for inspections and maintenance operations. During this window, they expect residents to keep pets crated or secured from 9–5 every day until someone eventually shows up--an ironic approach for a building whose slogan is 'Where Pets Are Family.”
While The Elle is marketed as luxury, it has become a textbook example of smoke and mirrors. Behind the polished leasing tours, social media posts, and AI-generated 'Dog of the Month' graphics is a property plagued by chronic mismanagement and a lack of transparency & accountability. Rent and fees keep rising, yet the only changes are AI leasing tools, outsourced payment platforms, and additional charges for amenities that were once included. When issues arise, we are given inconsistent explanations, vague promises, or carefully worded emails that shift responsibility onto internet connectivity, vendors’ mishaps, or shipping delays. Nothing seems to be proactively maintained, problems linger for weeks, and it often feels like management chooses damage control over transparency.
We pay luxury prices for fewer and fewer luxury amenities. The pool will be closed for the entire summer without any equivalent concession, gym equipment sits broken for weeks, half of the cardio equipment were unusable for over a month because they didn’t have an active Peloton membership, basic conveniences like the printer remain broken for days, and more amenities--including the golf simulator and pool cabanas--continue to move behind additional paywalls despite rising rent. Amenities are neglected until they become unusable, then remain that way for weeks before they're repaired.
Communication has become constant yet meaningless. Residents receive several emails every week—sometimes multiple in one day—but important information is still inaccurate, contradictory, or arrives after the fact. Email volume has skyrocketed while the quality and reliability of the information have plummeted. Ironically, actually reaching management is nearly impossible. Office doors are locked even when staff are present, maintenance requests disappeared into an app residents couldn't access for over a month, and getting a response feels like a full-time job.
I ALSO WOULDN’T RECOMMEND THIS BUILDING TO FAMILIES. Beyond the disruptive inspections and poorly organized community events, another resident repeatedly told both my husband and me that children weren't allowed on the main amenity floor. That another resident felt emboldened to repeatedly police families—and management took almost a week to correct it—reflects the general sentiment that while “Pets are Family” at The Elle, families with children don't receive the same sense of welcome.
The decline in resident experience closely followed the staff turnover. The longtime employees who genuinely cared about residents are gone, such as the front desk staff, and it feels like every policy change prioritizes convenience for management rather than residents. If Keyanta wasn’t still here, we would truly never receive a straightforward answer; he’s the only person left who has consistently shown genuine concern for residents.
Instead of being sad to leave, we're counting down the months until our lease ends—and that's the clearest reflection of how dramatically the resident experience has changed in barely 6 months.
WATERTON: Do not ask me to email you. My feedback is above.

The management is the worst. The property manager Rachael has zero experience managing a luxury building. She walks around filming for social media but can’t respond to residents or even manage her staff. She has a very nasty attitude. She abuses her power and parks in the handicap space in-front of the building mind you she doesn’t have a handicap sign; what a slap in the face for people who actually need it. THIS BUILDING IS THE ONLY ONE WITHOUT A OPEN POOL IN THE CITY!!!!

Do not - under any circumstances - live here. Building management is a disaster and you notice it every day.
Without announcement, they replaced the locks on every apartment, but only provided one new fob to residents. The new fobs don't work on the door to get into the lobby so if no one is at the front desk (which is often) you can't get into the elevator bank. My neighbor has a wife and son but received only one working key (and doesn't know when new fobs will arrive). Management also failed to add fob access to shared areas like the dog run. Now I have to carry two separate key fobs just to move around the building.
The pool has been closed since May and will not reopen for another 8 weeks... after summer ends. It is a completely useless amenity. They also installed Peloton bikes and treadmills in the gym but didn't pay for the subscription, so the equipment is completely unusable. These amenities are built into the cost of living here.
The mailroom is perpetually a mess. I often wait a week after something is delivered before trying to find my package. That's how disorganized it is. Packages frequently go missing (see other reviews below).
I've lived here for three years and this will be my last. Pick any other building. This one is not worth it.
There is a clear management problem at this building.
I have lived at The Elle for more than six months, and unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing. The issue is not the building itself, but the lack of communication, organization, and accountability from management.
The most frustrating example is the pool. It has remained closed for an extended period due to inspection and structural issues, yet residents have received very little transparency about timelines or meaningful updates. More than 60 residents signed a petition expressing our concerns, but we have been ignored.
The only compensation offered was a limited number of passes to use the Hilton pool or access to another property's pool located about 16 minutes away. For residents who specifically chose this building because of its amenities, this is simply not a reasonable solution.
The lack of organization goes beyond the pool. Management recently hosted a resident event, but after many people showed up, we later learned it had actually been canceled. The apology didn't come until the following day, with management claiming there had been an issue with their email system.
There is also visible damage to the garage that has remained covered with temporary fencing for an extended period, leaving debris along the sidewalk instead of a proper repair.
Overall, management has consistently ignored residents' concerns instead of addressing them. That is especially disappointing considering the premium rent this building charges.
If you're considering moving here, I would think twice. I'm already questioning whether renewing my lease is the right decision—not because of the building itself, but because of the way it is managed.
