  My apartment is beautiful and has everything I could possibly need. The staff here is excellent both at the office and the handyman who come to do anything that you need repaired or replaced in the apartment, in a timely manner the grounds are beautiful, and I have met so many wonderful here. Great place to live!

  I lived in Lorlyn of Batavia for almost 1 year. The Management and staff had been great and overall things had been good there in regards to dealing with employees, neighbors and the location. But please be advised, these apartments, especially the 3rd floor units are prone to Black Mold. We discovered a substantial amount of black mold around all windows and the frames, the sliding glass door and all the drywall surrounding it, in both closets and pretty much any wall that had outside exposure on the other side of it. It even began to saturate the outside of our drywall and show moisture stains and spots of black mold that seeped through the walls and became visible on the inside of the unit. There were a number of random dark stains with mold dots showing up in the middle of our walls. It eventually got so bad it was spreading to clothes, shoes, toys and anything that had been along any side wall. We completed 2 different black mold test that they both came back positive. It also explained a lot in regards to my wife and my ongoing sickness (that we are still dealing with). I had spoken with other residents and they said the last tenant in my unit moved due to the same issue. I had also seen a number of other (mainly 3rd floor) apartments covered and quarantined with plastic as repairs had been taking place. The apt's management (who was great) allowed us to break our lease but we had to move in the dead of winter. They did not pay for any moving costs and they even didn't award us with our full deposit. I understand that there was average wear and tear in the apt but was surprised we only got about half of our deposit back. The only reason I am writing this review is that I feel people should know the potential risks in renting here. I had recently brought this up with the management company that owns Lorlyn of Batavia and all they said is they would look into it. They ignored the fact that Lorlyn of Batavia has a number of reviews pointing out these exact issues. They ignored that it was a serious issue as they didn't even ask for my phone number for a follow up. I'm beyond disappointed and surprised at the lack of accountability I felt Austin Highland should have had (Austin Highland is the company that owns Lorlyn of Batavia). Overall I would be extremely cautious of renting here. They will call the mold moisture as a way to cover themselves legally but people need to know about the health risks they might be exposed to. I also hope people look on other websites and read reviews as most of them mention black mold problems but there had been none on google, prompting me to write this. Just be cautions in renting here.

  No stars! Told us to come out and they could show us an apt. We drive 30 minutes to get there and the lazy chick in the rundown office said they had no units to show. Poorly maintained landscaping. Shingles falling off of roofs. Trim around windows at every building badly damaged by water. Reminds me of the section 8 projects I grew up near. Horrible experience.
