Sharing this because it’s a lesson to be learned that properly managements will use retaliation for sticking up for yourself against a false charge & fictitious statements from the maintenance company they choose to hire for their building off of Maine Ave in Nampa. **Backstory** we moved in June of 2025, in October of 2025, we put a maintenance request in for our bathroom exhaust fan. We had received a call to schedule a visit, but a technician never showed up. The maintenance request was closed, and the problem was never addressed. The problem was the fan seemed to not be working as there was no sound coming on when switch was turned on. We also noticed more steam building up when showering. We ultimately put another request in, in the month of February of 2026. A tech did show up, dressed unprofessionally. He took the cover off, & that’s when I saw how gross & built up the fan was inside. The tech looked up in it, no ladder & said he needed to make a phone call. He came back in a minute later to say that The exhaust fan has a humidity sensor in it and will kick on when needed. I took his word for it. My husband got home later & did his own homework with the serial number of the fan that is outwards facing when looking up into ceiling. He took the cover off to access this number. We reached out again because we found out that the tech lied about the fan having a humidity sensor & wanted to ensure the property management knew that the fan seemed to still not be working properly. A 2nd diff. tech came out, still dressed unprofessionally, said that the property management wouldn’t authorize a replacement as it is running, but seems to be running continuously. That it is most likely to protect from moisture & the switch on the wall is a dummy switch. Okay.. but neither techs cleaned the nasty fan. Fecal bacteria can grow in bathroom exhaust fans if not cleaned..gross. Fast forward to April, we get a charge on our portal for “maintenance”. When we reached out via email to the property management, they said the 2nd service was deemed unnecessary, & that’s why the charge was there. (if the 1st tech was truthful, or maybe did some actual diagnostic research we wouldn’t have needed a 2nd visit). They also stated that we “altered” the fan by taking the unit out of ceiling. And the tech reported that he had to reinstall fan. Which is false. We only took the cover off. We also are in charge of replacing HVAC filters, which also requires us to take plastic cover off — so I’m not sure why the tech would lie or why property management would say we “altered” the fan. Ultimately, charge was dropped — in my opinion it’s because they knew the tech was lying. & we said we would pay the charge but would seek small claims court for reimbursement as the statement from tech were false & unjust. Fast forward to May, we get a notice that coming June our lease would be terminated. Why? We have never been late on rent, we change our HVAC filters every 30 days and we are quiet neighbors. Legally they don’t have to say why they’re choosing not to renew with us..but seems all too obvious that they think we’re “too much trouble” — when all we did was stick up for ourselves. My advice, film every maintenance visit, because you can never be too careful.
