We were in from Texas, with a flight home in 6 days, passport expired so our ship left w/o us. Ya, we had a problem on. Everything for the next 6 days had been pre-paid, so it wasn’t like we had a huge budget to cover the cost of two for a week in a town in a state neither of us knew at all. After spending night one in a Hilton at over $250. I decided to go Boho and instructed my daughter to find us a place. She’s all, “Okay mom, there the famous old hotel on Palm Beach, and they will give us a break on a double room! We can stay all 4 nights for $1500! That’s like a night for free!” Ya, sure. Let’s go check in, millennial. So, I again said that I wanted a cute cottage LESS EXPENSIVE MOTEL than The Dang Breakers! We had a dodgy rental car with the check engine light ...... ANYWAY, LONG STORY SHORT: We called the El Patio after driving by it. I thought it was cute. The manager called us back, and we agreed to meet that afternoon. So we’d really called all 4 or 5 of the similar bungalow-type motels we’d passed on the way to the beach from the airport car place, and El Patio was the only one who called and COULD meet us, and DID have a room for two. We got there, and talked and told the manager our predicament, and were then shown the sweetest, comfiest, cutest cottage....and we then “made a deal” for the great space at a great price. El Patio treated us well, they gave us a clean, air-conditioned, cozy but spacious bungalow we called home for the next 4 days n’ nights. We had a wonderful time, and felt safe (given the rather questionable neighborhood corner hangouts). We were able to grocery shop nearby, and filled the fridge and had everything we needed for the rest of our wonderful stay in west and palm beach. It was a great base to go from, and a happy place to return to after every interesting and fun filled day. The beach and downtown were near, and the manager clued us in to local highlights. We found west palm beach and palm beach to be welcoming, both full of great places to eat, to shop, and to learn. We thank El Patio and commend the manager for the care and thoughtfulness we were shown throughout our stay. I’d like to keep the place a secret, but for those among you who’ve got the spirit in you, El Patio Motel is quite the Boho crib, a nice space to call your own while away from home. Thank you, D.E.B. and host. We can’t wait to return next summer, and winter.
Best regards, “Texas”.
