As a military family and as someone who has rented from numerous apartment complexes, I would NEVER recommend anyone live at Watermark at Urban Blu. After PCS’ing across the country, they made it almost impossible to get ahold of anyone just to receive our refund. The front office staff rarely answered the phone while we lived there, and they especially do not answer after we moved out. We left numerous voicemails that were never returned. We also emailed the front office staff more times than I can count just to have those go unanswered for unreasonable amounts of time as well.
They also attempted to charge us an early termination fee of $3,600 even though my husband submitted his military orders well before we moved out. I am posting this review in hopes that they will finally issue our refund to us. We moved out March 20th 2026 and officially got into contact about our refund the first week of April. It’s currently June the 5th and we still have not received our refund of $2,500. I’m sure they will argue that refunds take time, and we have been more than accommodating and understanding of that. However, when emails and calls go unanswered for weeks at a time, it becomes neglectful rather than “things just happen.” It is absolutely disgraceful that a company has made it as hard as they have to receive a simple refund. At the end of the day $2,500 is simply way too much money to be withheld and not have clear and concise communication of when it’s going to be received.
On top of the absolute nightmare of trying to get our money back, they failed in many other areas regarding maintenance. During our 2+ years of living there, our AC unit routinely went out, and we would then receive outrageous electric bills of over $1,500 once as well as equally ridiculous $500 ones. The maintenance team promised to fix it every time, but instead they performed poorly done bandaid fixes. Finally, after admittedly causing a ruckus in the front office, they hired a professional who came in and solved the issue. He even admitted to us that it was a “hot mess” and had been poorly repaired previously.
To further speak on the maintenance staff, during one especially hot day our AC stopped working yet again. We called the emergency maintenance hotline to have them bring us a portable unit. The maintenance man answered the phone, said he would bring the unit, and then apparently fell back asleep. It got up to 86 degrees in our one-bedroom apartment. Unsurprisingly, the phone once again went unanswered. Hours later, I had to walk down to the office to complain. Sure, things were eventually repaired, fixed and refunded (after almost a year and a half) but who wants to continuously fight the same battle over and over again?
After a very long travel day, we also once came home to both of our key fobs not working. They had just been taken in to be “fixed” after we had (stupidly) renewed our lease. We left voicemails that were not returned for several hours, and by then we had already gotten a hotel room. The office staff laughed in our faces when we asked about being compensated for that unexpected stay.
I have many other instances where they failed that I could tell, but this post is already quite lengthy. I can confidently say that while these apartments are marketed as “luxury apartments,” they are anything but. If you are considering this apartment complex simply because it is close to the Navy base, think again. If anyone from the Navy base sees this post, I would highly recommend putting this apartment complex on the “do not rent” list. This truly has been such a completely unnecessary hassle to deal with.
I hope others do not have as bad of an experience as we did, but if you are considering renting here, please go somewhere else.
