I'm a Realtor, and I chose Monterey for my own home. If you're reading these reviews trying to decide whether this community is right for you, that should tell you something.
My search was not casual. For more than a year we looked at everything between Naples and Tampa before honing in on Sarasota. Once we did, we spent eight months touring more than a hundred homes and properties. We fell in love with Longboat Key, but after seeing the hurricane damage and the ongoing issues out there, being inland and just east of I-75 became a priority for us. We also seriously considered some of the older, established communities inside Lakewood Ranch.
What ultimately won us over was the location. Monterey sits off Fruitville, which is a straight shot to Lido and Siesta Key, quick to I-75, and quick to University Parkway, without having to sit in that congestion every day. You get all the amenities of Lakewood Ranch without being trapped in the traffic. Add the gated community feel and the Toll Brothers build quality, which held up when I walked the models with a professional eye, and the decision was clear. These homes are stunning! The lots feel larger - you are not right on top of each other. Have a dog? They allow fences. That was huge for us.
I went through the same process every buyer here goes through. Weighed everything and knew right away this was the BEST decision. If you have questions about the experience before you decide, I'm happy to share what I learned.
