I lived at Motif for three years, and I can honestly say watching this property decline year after year was incredibly disappointing. If you're considering moving here because it's marketed as a "luxury" apartment community, I strongly encourage you to spend a few minutes reading the recent reviews first. They paint a much more accurate picture than the marketing photos.
The biggest issue is that this property simply does not provide the level of safety, cleanliness, or professionalism you would expect for what residents are paying.
The common areas are consistently neglected. Hallways, carpets, stairwells, trash rooms, the garage, landscaping, and even the pool area frequently looked dirty and poorly maintained. I have photos documenting overflowing trash, abandoned furniture, filthy stairwells, and conditions that should never exist in a building charging luxury prices. At times, it honestly felt more like a neglected apartment complex than a premium community.
Safety became one of my biggest concerns.
During my time there, I regularly saw homeless individuals around the property and in areas immediately surrounding the building. I personally found a used syringe in one of the stairwells, which was honestly shocking.
There were ongoing concerns about theft, frequent police activity, and resident complaints serious enough to be covered by local news. That is not what anyone expects when paying thousands of dollars every month to live in a "luxury" building.
If you have children, I would seriously reconsider living here.
Management also does very little to enforce community standards. The pool was routinely left covered with empty alcohol bottles, food containers, and trash after weekends. The gym often became a hangout where people blasted music through portable speakers while children ran around unsupervised. Instead of feeling like a luxury residential community, it often felt like there were no rules being enforced at all.
Package management was another constant headache. Packages were routinely returned without authorization if they weren't picked up quickly enough. If you travel for work, take a vacation, or simply can't get to the leasing office immediately, don't be surprised if your deliveries disappear before you ever have the opportunity to collect them. Package theft was also a recurring issue, particularly involving higher-value deliveries.
Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop after I moved out.
The move-out process has been one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever had with any property management company.
I disputed my final statement because there were multiple accounting errors. To their credit, they eventually admitted the original charges were incorrect and significantly reduced the balance.
One thing I also wish someone had warned me about before signing my lease is the actual cost of living here. The advertised rent is only the beginning. Once you factor in all of the mandatory fees, additional charges, and recurring add-ons, you'll pay substantially more than the advertised price. Then, when you move out, be prepared to scrutinize every charge because, in my experience, the accounting process was riddled with mistakes that I had to catch myself.
Looking back, the luxury amenities and polished marketing are exactly that—marketing.
Luxury isn't quartz countertops or a nice lobby. Luxury is feeling safe where you live. It's having management that communicates honestly, maintains the property, treats residents with respect, and resolves problems professionally.
Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
