  I moved into Empire Apartments 8 years ago after having recently moved to DC. The building is 100 years old, but built solid and very well-maintained. In the time I lived there, I never had any safety concerns. The area is incredibly safe. Through the ups and downs of life including job changes, relationships, family circumstances, the pandemic, Empire was my rock. What makes the building truly special is the staff! The building is operated by less than a handful of employees, LaShawn, Miguel, and Dominga. Yet, the premises are kept clean, maintenance requests are responded to timely, and I appreciate the holiday decorations that brighten up the mood when away from home :-). Overall, a great and affordable place in the heart of DC to begin your DC adventure!

  I’ve asked multiple times about lowering the temperature on the AC. Everyone I talk to here agrees that it’s way too hot. They had the building at a sort of comfortable temperature but this past week they turned the AC back down and it’s way too hot. Every time I ask about making it more comfortable they just say we’ll look into, or I’ll let management know and they suggest to buy a portable ac unit. You shouldn’t have to force your tenants to buy portable AC United when you advertise working building AC. It’s 79 degrees in my apartment. Make it comfortable for your tenants. It’s supposed to be 100 degrees this week so it needs to be fixed asap.

  worst apartment ever. Roaches everywhere. Halway carpet broken and never fixed. drity room. drains clogged. windows dirty. no A/C during early summer/spring. it was hot in room. all tenants are rude and look sad. Dark hallways and rooms. trashroom disgusting and roaches everywhere too.

  stay as far away from empire apartments as possible. There was a huge roach infestation even before I was living in the apartment full time. Management states that there is no infestation, but I woke up SEVERAL mornings with roaches crawling on me after only living there a MONTH. The empire would like to say that there was no infestation, but I have several pictures that prove that there was, but it is confusing that they think I would commute 2 hours every single day to DC rather than stay in an apartment that had a great location, not to mention losing $1000’s of dollars on ruined furniture which the roaches were inside of
