  My first 4 days living here was normal I hadn’t done laundry. It seemed like everything fine. Sure maybe the normal shit on floor puke on the walls but everything was okay. Until. I crept apon the laundry room. And smelled this distinct fishy onion type of smell, the smell into which it wasn’t just one. But possible the entire rainbow filled with colors. I smelt it. I smelled. Since my room is around one through fifteen that area wasn’t such a pleasant smells since it carried its way from the laundry room. It smells like weed. And vape. The apartments outside smell isn’t pleasant either. With the apartment surroundings smell like fish once more. Where I park my car it smells like it especially during hot days. For more specifics I’m parked by a black Chevy. The people aren’t bad. But because of the constant fishy scent it was to intoxicating for to handle.

  I lived at retro 511 for 4 years and it was a good experience. The apartment was renovated with modern appliances, the location is close to the highway and many restaurants, and the staff were great. Elba & Monica were great with renewals and other management related items and Steve was great with maintenance, always quick to respond and to work to resolve issues. I moved to downsize apartments but would be willing to rent at retro 511 again.

  We called the leasing office for an appointment to view the place. The leasing agent put down our appointment for 1:00 pm at the West Haven location. She never showed after we waited 30 minutes. Me and my boyfriend both had to ask for time off work to come and see the place since they don’t do any showings after 2:00pm. We kept calling the leasing office to see where this lady was but no one ever answered. Comes to show that they don’t care about future tenants let alone probably the people that already live there. We’re excited to see the place but we’re very disappointed with getting stood up.

  After living here for about 6 months now, the apartments themselves are pretty decent. Nothing extraordinary but nice for the price. However, that price is for a reason. When looking at the place, the staff was very friendly, and were helpful. However, after moving in and living for some time, they have gone downhill. It started when the refrigerator was not working so they replaced it. I will say, they replaced it quickly, however they replaced it with a much smaller version. After fighting back and forth and many emails later, they still have yet to resolve the issue. Secondly, they did NOT respond to the issues that were addressed in the move in checklist (which they had thirty days to do). Thirdly, we discovered the heat in our apartment was not working when we went to turn it on for the first time this year. We sent an emergency work order, as well as an email and received no response for 36 hours. It wasn’t until we called the West Haven Health Department that we received a call back from the property management addressing the issue. Lastly, we have had four packages now stolen from the mail area. There have been multiple others as well who have had this issue as we have seen several notes left about packages being stolen. When we sent an email in regard to the issue, the response was that their cameras are down and that we should send our packages to a locker that we can pick them up from. When we toured the place they prided themselves on having cameras but who knows if they have ever worked as I saw another review over the same issue posted over a month ago. This means that their cameras have been down for over a month now. This is an amenity that we are willing to pay for but we are not receiving a service for. If they cared for anything other than receiving money, they would address the issues listed. And I will truly know what type of people run this building if they respond to me with the same generic reply that every other negative review has been replied to with.
