I came to visit my daughter and stayed with her in an apartment at The Shelton Grove for two weeks. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, with three grocery stores and other shops and restaurants a five-minute drive away. Yale University is only about a half-hour drive from here, and I visited the Yale University Art Gallery, which is truly impressive.

Great experience so far. Management has been attentive to all of my needs. And the pool is great, too. Highly recommend!

I am not one to write google reviews, but I am so upset and frustrated by the way Shelton Grove Management has acted and responded to recent events. In January of this year my car was broken into while parked at Shelton Grove, the property was under another management company at the time. That management did not and would not put up cameras on the property. When the property was taken over by this current company, in May there was one car break-in and another car stolen. When I went to management, they told me verbatim ”there are cameras on the property and we used cameras to see what happened in the break ins”. Come to find out weeks later and multiple other conversations about how there ARE cameras on the property(and them saying they are placed in parking lots), there are NO cameras. They admitted that there are only cameras in the common areas (indoors) and that the footage they supposedly found was from a tenant's own ring camera. When going to management myself and other tenants were met with defensiveness, despite there actually being no cameras. As of right now, management does not see a need for cameras in parking lots.... This is just one example of how poor communication is at Shelton Grove. That, coupled with emails “not sending right” and people smoking on the property common areas despite our lease saying that it is prohibited, has made me extremely disappointed in management and living here. Additionally, the appliances issues needing constant maintenance and the constant smell of smoke in our apartments is extremely frustrating. While maintenance is extremely on top of these complaints(for me personally), it is annoying to have them in the first place. I recommended not living here if possible.
Unfortunately this place has no choice but to be given a single star review and I hope everyone that is thinking of moving here thoroughly reads it. The apartments themselves are nice but that’s basically where it ends.
MANAGEMENT AND THE NEW FRONT DESK STAFF SUCK! I have plenty of examples that have driven me to write this for months now.
1.) WE DO NOT HAVE A POOL! The pool was suppose to open Memorial Day weekend well here I am writing this after the Fourth of July and the pool is still closed.
2.) The gyms AC doesn’t properly work and hasn’t for months. I go to use it and it’s 84° up there. Beyond that instead of replacing a water filter for the water machine in the gym they unplugged it and disconnected it. Oh wait there’s also no more wipes and hasn’t been for weeks to clean the equipment.
3.) Lived here for months and the mailing system has been as follows: USPS doesn’t come we have to go pick up our mail at the office 15 minutes away because they have procrastinated installing locks on the boxes.
4.) They have a trash service that enables you to leave trash outside the door. Sounds good until they don’t come for a week at a time. Then the office people decide an email telling people not to leave trash outside is a good idea. (Take a look at the picture to see what the dumpsters looked like for the last week).
I highly recommend staying away unless you plan on being frustrated by the lack of care this place shows for it’s tenants.

EDIT AT BOTTOM
I have lived here for 6 months now. There have been 3 different property managers, and there are major concerns with the apartment buildings and management. From the beginning, there have been multiple issues with doors, including doors letting snow in during the winter, and failing to properly address safety and heating concerns. There have been MULTIPLE car thefts and break-ins, and there have been no attempts to improve safety. Residents are not able to receive mail or packages to the building for security purposes. I got emails that people will be entering our buildings for "improving wifi" and then months later they send out another email saying they were in our homes for a different reason. The rugs are in obvious need of replacement, and constant issues regarding plumbing, insulation, and bugs. Every week there are different reasons to enter our apartments. There are only four washing machines for the entire complex. The pool was used as a main selling point but still has not opened and its the middle of the summer. Residents openly smoke in apartments and common areas. Reaching out to management does not result in any sort of response or action.
update:
As per recommended by the google review response, I reached out to management. Management not only admitting to telling untrue statements in writing and by word of mouth about claiming to have cameras, but also stated that they are not willing to spend the money for security cameras, despite the numerous breakins and thefts that have occured here.
Additionally my apartment has had a water plumbing leak for 2 weeks and subsequent mold buildup in the closet and when I asked for repair they just painted over the mold.
