Toured these apartments and was shocked by my experience and almost felt as though I was being sold on why NOT to rent here. Leasing agent was new, less than a week on the job, not sure why she was not accompanied by a more experienced team member. Though she was set up for failure in a way that was not her fault, I was surprised by her responses to my questions. Asked about rodents, pests, water damage, mold, and car break ins, and she kindly informed me that yes, this apartment does experience all these issues. Also told me that the unit she was showing me was previously occupied by a heavy smoker and warned me that it smelled bad. When we entered it was completely gutted and torn up — all appliances missing and floor ripped out — with soda cans and McDonalds cups thrown about. Never been shown an unfinished unit like this before, it felt highly unprofessional. To make matters worse I’m fairly confident I heard scurrying and squeaking sounds and noticed the blinds rattling and swaying about but could not confirm that it was a rodent due to the cardboard construction waste that was piled high. Also, absolutely no sound proofing in this building at all whatsoever. Sounds and smells traveled in a way I’ve never experienced. Also was informed that utilities would come in around 300$. No shade at this leasing agent, but save your 2k a month (for a small 1bed) and look beyond this lipstick-on-a-pig dump

The apartments are decent for the price you pay. The hallways smell bad most of the time, but the apartments themselves are nice. The bedrooms are big, and the bathroom seemed to have a ventilation problem, which caused mold.
However, the management/landlord staff caused a huge headache for my move-out process. I was moving out while my roommate was renewing the lease with a new resident. We made this clear to the staff, including me calling, emailing, and going down to the office to explain the situation, before our lease expired. However, I was given the wrong form to sign, which was not corrected by the staff till 4 days before our lease ended, which was mid july. There also wasn't a lease renewal given to my former roommate until 3 days before our lease ended.
This form was only corrected when I tried to just pay the partial rent for July, since this was the appropriate amount to pay according to the lease I signed. However, the leasing office reached out to my roommate to ask for full rent for July or the apartment would be given notice. I then called the leasing office, where they threatened legal action against me and my roommate if we did not pay for the entirety of July. Which we did not owe due to there being no signed lease renewal. Because of the intensity of the phone call, I did end up paying the full rent of July, even though leagly I nor my roomate at the timed owed this money.
The communication of the leasing office was completely inappropriate and aggressive, given how much they mishandled the situation. Please proceed with caution when renting here, and I would recommend looking into other options if possible
The staff here is absolutely phenomenal. Jeff, Cheryl, Jen, Hannah, and the Maintenance team, are incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. They take a proactive approach to property management, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and residents feel valued.
Of course, unexpected issues can arise, such as a broken faucet or other maintenance concerns. When they do, this team goes above and beyond to resolve them quickly and efficiently. Their responsiveness and dedication to taking care of residents are truly exceptional.
What sets this community apart is the way the staff treats everyone with kindness, respect, and genuine care—they make you feel like part of the family. If you're looking for a place where you'll feel supported and appreciated, you'll absolutely enjoy calling this community home.

As a kid and now as an adult, I’ve always wanted to live in this building. I’m not sure why, but I just did. Now that I’ve looked at the reviews, they’re terrible. I don’t want to go off the reviews, but I feel like I have to because they’re all bad. I really wish this was a good place to live. I would of love this place for sure if the reviews were better..

I live in Velvet Mill, I've been here for 9 months. The apartments are very nice, my apartment is beautiful, however, the walls are VERY thin, the bathrooms are small. The utilities can surely get expensive in the Winter. Management is great, but the rent is high for the practicality of the apartment. Also the rent is raised every time you renew your lease. We will be moving when our lease is up.
