This was one of the most frustrating and disorganized apartment application experiences we’ve dealt with. The approval process alone took almost 2 weeks, and throughout that time there was very little communication between staff members. Every time we spoke to someone, we received different information, and even when asking direct questions, the answers were often vague or important details were left out.
The two staff members we mainly communicated with were Kathrine and Karen, and there seemed to be little to no communication between them. Many of the questions we asked either went unanswered, were answered differently depending on who we spoke to, or they simply did not seem to know the answer. This made the entire process even more confusing and stressful.
During the process, we were told there were “altered documents,” which added unnecessary stress and delayed everything further, even though we provided everything requested from us. We were also required to pay for an additional application, leading to even more unexpected costs.
We scheduled an appointment to tour the exact unit we were interested in leasing, but when we arrived, no one seemed to know about our appointment or why we were there. After waiting and trying to sort things out, we were then informed that the unit had already been leased — despite the fact that we specifically made the appointment to view that exact apartment.
After that, we were encouraged to place a holding fee on another unit, something that was never clearly explained to us in the beginning. Because we had already invested so much time and money into the process, we felt pressured to continue moving forward. We were then given a move-in total close to $4,000, which felt extremely excessive on top of all the other costs we had already paid.
In total, we spent around $400 on application-related fees, only to later be told that none of it was refundable because it was stated somewhere in the application paperwork. While that may be technically true, the overall experience was stressful, confusing, poorly communicated, and far more expensive than expected.
The property itself may seem nice, but our experience with the leasing process was exhausting and disappointing. I would strongly recommend future applicants ask detailed questions about every fee, refund policy, holding cost, and unit availability before applying or sending any money.
