Comfy but my 2017 specialized sirrus sport was stolen from the “bike room” within a month of moving here. No word on my expensive bicycle but they can harass us about trash cans in hallways and hire people that can’t bother to yell at belligerent drunk jerks.

I wanted to wait until I had been a resident here for a few months before leaving a real review. Honestly, after reading some of the reviews before moving in, I was nervous, but I’m genuinely glad I chose The Hayes.
Sharonda and Michael are truly 10/10. Even after I moved in, I can still reach out to Sharonda with questions, and her kindness and quick responses never changed from the application process. Michael is always around the property checking on things, and no matter the time or day, he’s friendly and always speaks.
I also wanted to add about Sharonda, there was a mix up with my apartment, Sharonda noticed the mix up, solved the issue and honored my rent within 12 hours !
One thing I really appreciate is the sense of community here. We regularly have food trucks and resident events where you can build your own flower bouquet, grab a burrito, and just hang out.
One of the residents is even a DJ and sets up in the lounge sometimes. You can come outside and join, nothing but good vibes. The residents themselves also organize events so everyone can meet and get familiar with each other.
I walk my dog every morning around 7:30 a.m., and I constantly see maintenance working. There are usually 2/3 maintenance staff cleaning the pool early in the morning. A couple weeks ago I came home around 11:30 p.m. and there were still one of the maintenance workers in Building 2 fixing something in the hallway. The cleaning lady also stays busy. At least a couple times a week I hear vacuuming in the hallways.
With that said, I think it’s important to be fair. A lot of the cleanliness complaints people blame on The Hayes are honestly caused by residents themselves. Many residents have dogs, and unfortunately some GROWN people allow their dogs to defecate/pee in the hallway and elevator and make no attempt to clean it up.
GROWN people also leave trash sitting in the hallways for days, even after management has repeatedly asked residents not to leave trash out during certain hours.
A few Sundays ago someone dropped an entire glass container of potato salad on the sidewalk . First of all, dropping potato salad is a crime in itself. More importantly, there was shattered glass everywhere near dogs and children, and the person LEFT IT.
Even the pool is currently being drained due to a resident had 15 broken glass bottles around the pool area. For safety reasons, management now has to make sure there’s no glass inside the pool.
At the end of the day, it’s easy to blame The Hayes for everything, but considering how much we all pay to live here, plus majority of the tenets here are GROWN. We as residents should also take more pride in the community we share.

We were tenants in Unit 2-202 (3BR/2BA, C1 floor plan) from July 2025 to May 2026. Two totally blind adults, three children.
Documented habitability failures: dishwasher backed contaminated water into our only food prep sink for 8.5 months and was so awful smelling that when maintenance finally replaced it after 8.5 months and multiple written requests, they vomited off the balcony; HVAC filters unchanged for 7+ months on two systems; both ceiling access panels left open for 3 weeks exposing unit to ceiling cavity contaminants; mold-consistent discoloration on ceilings in every room, every closet, and under every cabinet. Construction noise ran before 7am to after 9pm 7 days a week. The second floor physically shook from normal foot traffic.
Disability discrimination: management refused all accessible document formats to totally blind residents for 10 months, admitted on audio recording while knowingly being recorded that their legal department advised them they did not have to do so by law. Refused guide dog relief accommodation — dog became ill and was retired and rehomed. Refused written-only communication. Filed a fraudulent court affidavit falsely stating we refused mediation and do not receive SSI — both documented lies.
Financial fraud: charged $161 in insurance fees after confirming our insurance in writing; collected pest control fees for 11 months with zero services provided; never applied our signed $2,561 move-in rent concession; triple-billed electricity for July 2025; overbilled valet trash above signed addendum cap; charged undisclosed fees not on the fee disclosure form.
Health impact: husband hospitalized in ICU on ventilator 3 days during tenancy. One kitten died of rapid respiratory failure. Three gerbils died. one child and one adult developed new mobility issues during tenancy. All documented at Denver Health.
Advertised amenities that don't exist as described: breakfast (it's just coffee, sometimes) when the machines work; zen garden (no idea where this is); dog spa (a filthy uncleaned room that smells of mold and waste); dog park (mulch beds full of uncleaned dog waste — the same area my guide dog was forced to use until he got sick); yard (almost no grass on the property); skylights (none); wet bar (none); sliding glass balcony door (it's a standard hinged door). Washer/dryers poorly maintained — made clothes smell worse.
Their own listing for this unit shows 1,540 sq ft in the header and 1,310 sq ft in the description. 230 sq ft discrepancy in their own data.
Active: HUD Fair Housing Complaint No. 876779, CCRD complaint, HDC complaint approved, AG Consumer Protection complaint filed, BBB Case No. 24835581 filed 05/10/2026.
Do not rent here.
NOTE: This property received 22 five-star reviews in a single month (April-May 2026) — the same month an active federal HUD Fair Housing complaint (No. 876779) was perfected and a BBB complaint was filed. The property has accumulated 42 one-star reviews across its entire existence. Prospective tenants should read the one-star reviews carefully and consider the timing of the five-star cluster.
I have lived here for about 2 years now since they took it over and I have to say I have never been happier here than I have in the last few weeks. Parcel pending has made my life so much easier, even though some Amazon flex drivers don’t use them when I order fast delivery . Before all we had was a closet for our packages but now I finally am confident enough to get delivery here. The recent resident events and communication have made me feel like I am paying the right amount for where I live. Sharonda, Sadie and the community manager Mike are always quick to help and so nice. The maintenance team, Russel I think his name was and the other ones are so nice and handle things in a timely manner. I wouldn’t have recommended this place before, but this management seems to really care about us as residents and I am so happy I renewed my lease this year. Highly recommended if you are looking for a team who cares.

Disgusting and disappointing don’t even scratch the surface. One star even feels too generous. My fiancé and I lived here for a year and a half and overall had a bad experience. Obviously everything is relative to your perspective and expectations, but I wanted to share our authentic experience. We moved in while this property was still Alexan at Westerly Creek back in October of 2024, that team was fantastic and responsive but then it got bought out and turned into The Hayes. When they took over there was an obvious decline in several areas and it ended in disappointment from all angles. Our unit faced the pool which on initial move in I thought would really nice, but we quickly realized it was anything but. Not only would people let their kids go to the pool unattended resulting in an exorbitant amount of noise, but I am also led to believe that they were not teaching them to get out when they needed to go to the bathroom. On several occasions the hot tub would be so cloudy you could not see to the bottom and various trash or random items would be left in the pool. Groups of adults would go sit in the hot tub, drink, play loud music, and have yelling volume conversations until well past the time the pool was open, many times on week nights which was taken seriously by the “courtesy patrol” for only about two weeks. Moving on to the trash situation because if you move here you will see a lot of that everywhere. The parking lot, entry ways, stair wells, internal hallways, and trash rooms will all always have trash laying around to some degree and the lack of trash cans throughout the community makes people even less responsible for throwing anything away. There have been at least 5 times over the course of us living here that the trash room itself was so full of trash, furniture, and other items that you could not make it to the shoots to throw a bag away. Not that it mattered because those would also be backed up due to the dumpsters being far too small for the amount of people living in these buildings. Outside of the looming presence of trash everywhere the odor in the hallways is enough to make you cough. Many people would leave bags out in the hallway all day despite the leasing office reminding them to only have trash out when the pick up would be coming by, resulting in the internal poorly ventilated hallways smelling like rotten food and dirty diapers. Don’t worry though you won’t be allowed to have any mats or decorations on your doors because that impacts the “aesthetics” of the apartment building. Moving to the outside of the building, you will immediately be greeted with the smell of dog urine and feces due to the majority of pet owners not picking up after their dogs with seemingly no consequences. I would like to believe if they kept the waste bags stocked that would change, but unfortunately I don’t think it will. I am also under the impression that safety is not number one here as we had several instances of people trying to get into our apartment (multiple times in the middle of the night) one of which the leasing office advise we should fill out a police report, which would have resulted in nothing happening because there was no actual entry from the person trying to get into our apartment. People also tend to leave exterior doors propped open with rocks. The doors in several buildings have been broken multiple times over our time there and reckless tenant have caused door glass to break four separate times on four separate doors. There is a reason there were 40+ empty units right before we moved and also the “new” property manager Michael who keeps responding to bad reviews has been here since August of 2025. Though these apartments may seem affordable it comes at the expense of careless tenants, a dirty property, and an overall disappointing living experience.
