I have lived at Westlake Canyon Apartments and wanted to share my experience for anyone considering living here.
The location is convenient, and the on-site manager and assistant manager have always been courteous and professional when I've spoken with them. Unfortunately, my experience has been overshadowed by an ongoing smoke and vaping issue that has not been resolved.
Since December, smoke and fumes have repeatedly entered my apartment through the vents and common areas, especially during the early morning hours and after 5:00 p.m. There have been days when the odor was so strong that I couldn't work in my home office. I have also experienced persistent coughing and burning eyes when the fumes are present.
The problem has become so severe that I have covered the vents inside my apartment with plastic in an attempt to reduce the smoke entering my home. My next-door neighbor has also placed plastic over a window to help keep the fumes out. In addition, six other neighbors have told me they have noticed the smoke or odor as well, so this does not appear to be an isolated issue.
I have submitted five written complaints to management since December. While the staff has always been respectful, the problem continues without a resolution. I understand that managing a community of more than 670 apartment homes is a significant responsibility, but I believe this issue requires additional involvement from corporate management and stronger enforcement of the community's no-smoking and no-vaping policy.
My lease states that smoking, vaping, and cigar use are prohibited in or around the apartment buildings. I hope management will remind all residents of these rules and take appropriate action when violations occur.

Ended up deciding to rent elsewhere due to our needs but wanted to leave a review for the manager Charles. Super nice guy and by far the most professional property manager we dealt with in the past 2 weeks. His follow up is what reminded me to leave a review.

The leasing office is NEVER open during their business hours! Super unprofessional! I wasted my time and gas money trying to tour a vacant unit three times because the office leasing people are never there during their business hours.

horrible management! They are constantly bettering the exterior of the development to bring in new tenants but once you are in they quickly forget about any needs you may have inside your unit.
