I stayed at La Jolla Canyon Apartment for 4 years (left last summer) and the service is wonderful to the Tee!! Both Mary, property manager and the maintenance man, AlJohn has gone above and beyond with their service to ensure us tenants have a great place to stay. Mary has such a lovely and beautiful personality and has always welcomed me with open arms whenever I walk into the office. I feel at ease being around one of the sweetest property managers I have ever met! AlJohn is attentive, personable, and quick in fixing any issues I had in my apartment. It was enjoyable to have lived here and was sad when I had to leave. Even though the people working there was phenomenal, the amenities could improve. The jacuzzi was under construction for a while and the gym was quite small. Laundry always had its own issues with the washers being broken often. Even though the amenities was an annoyance, I personally prefer having people like Mary and AlJohn as the property manager and maintenance man because I am taken care of as a tenant. Thank you for making my stay the last 4 years one of the best!! :)

I've had a really great experience living at La Jolla Canyon. Mary, who works in the leasing office, is the sweetest property manager I have ever met! She and Vu have always been very very supportive and helpful. Everyone on the maintenance team is also super friendly, polite, and professional. They always respond to requests promptly. You can tell that the staff genuinely care about the residents and their living experience, which is my top prioty when choosing a place to live. Although the property is not gated, there is a police station and fire station right across the street, so I always felt safe living here. Another big advantange is that the buildings only have two floors. If you live on the second floor, you do not have to worry about upstairs neighbors stomping around or having parties late at night. The community is generally very quite at night anyway. The only thing I wish the community had is a larger and better-equipped gym. I knew before moving in that the gym was quite small, but I still chose to live here because the rent is reasonable, and there are several other gym options nearby. Afterall, the community atmosphere was what mattered most to me, and I have no regrets about my decision! That said, if the property is ever remodeled in the future, I think upgrading the gym would be a great improvement :) I wish the staff and everyone in the community all the best.

Stayed for five years, very sad to leave but I wanted something new! Bit of a long review, so keep tight. Service! Excellent service from Mary, she's wonderful to talk to and she's great at listening and acting on your concerns if you need anything! AI John also is very punctual and available easily for maintenance requests, so I never felt like we were lacking in service. They set a really high standard that I don't know if I'll see anywhere else! And a good reason why I stayed. Affordability! At the time of renting (2021) prices were quite reasonable and they barely increased our rent while we stayed there. However, there's no in-unit laundry, which I really started to miss due to time constraints. Location: Good location close to UTC mall, UCSD, and a few min away from the 5 and 805 to get out and quite close to the beach. The canyon behind is pretty and I'm going to miss running through it! Very handy to spend five minutes walking to the trolley to go to downtown. Takes me 8 min to drive/walk to UCSD for work, so good if student/employee. Very quiet area and people bring their kids onto the playground; funny to think I saw kids grow up there over five years! So a small, nice community you see visibly over time, even though many people move through UTC area. However, the surrounding area is ok interesting and walking through corporate offices to the bus stop wasn't for me after awhile. Keep in mind if you like to walk around, aside from the canyon behind/ucsd. Misc: The apartments are a bit old however, and air circulation tended to be an issue, so the apartments tended to feel stuffy (no AC). would recommend a fan. i liked our apartment being at the back, even if it was away from the parking lot/garbage. Closing Thoughts: Overall, lengthy review aside, I hold many memories here (including getting my cats lol) and I'm going to miss it weirdly! Mary commented how big file ours was because of how long we stayed 😅 Take care!

Do not come live here, there is a guy that is not right in the mind, he has basically a homeless camp in his apartment ( you can smell it just walking by), does weed on the daily, sits near children playground, rolls on the grounds of the community, appears disoriented and unsafe to live nearby. Cops showed up on multiple occasions due to his actions and management have been made aware of him but didn’t do anything yet. Will update if any action takes place.

My partner and I have been living at La Jolla Canyon for almost 2 years as our first home, and both the front office staff and maintenance staff are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and respectful. In the front office, both Broderick and Mary have offered exceptional customer service and are very friendly people. Whether by phone or email, they respond quickly. These apartments are definitely not luxurious, but the La Jolla Canyon maintenance staff does an awesome job at keeping our home maintained. In particular, Al-John has offered his assistance with several repairs including a closet rod that fell out of place, an outlet that was shooting sparks out, and a fridge that stopped working overnight. For all of these instances, Al-John responded almost instantly and our failing fridge was replaced within less than 2 hours on a rainy Saturday morning. Thank you Al-John for your kindness and hard work! Thank you to all the La Jolla Canyon staff for making sure we enjoy our first home!
