  I applied at an apartment complex called Bay Vista at Meadow Park in Novato, CA on May 10th. It is owned by a company called Avanath Capital Management LLC. I paid an application fee of $60 and a holding fee for $150. I set up an appointment for May 11th with an AI assistant who confirmed the appointment several times. When I arrived there was a police officer there who warned me about the amount of crime he has responded to at the complex. He told me that he wouldn’t chose to live there based on the car thefts and break-ins. Needless to say, no one showed up for the tour. I tried calling the management office and the company several times only to get into an unhelpful loop with Ai. I left after a half hour wait. I called the management office as I left the area and someone finally answered. She proceeded to hang up on me when I asked her what happened. I was upset I drove back to the complex to get some answers and she told me that Ai sets up appointments but doesn’t know the tour guides schedules. What??? Anyway, after sending an emailed complaint to the company, the manager (who previously told me there was nothing she could do) offered me a refund. I mistakenly had not put my apartment number with my address on the application. So I never received the refund. I emailed the apartment manager and she said they had to wait to see if the check returns to the office to make sure it wouldn’t be cashed. Why would it be cashed? At this point I’m completely drained by this whole experience. I replied by asking if the check can be cancelled and another resent. She never responded. I then emailed the company again asking for a replacement check and again no reply. When I researched this company I saw many posts with complaints resembling mine. Zero to little contact and people feeling scammed. It was vague on the website whether any apartments are truly available and Ai was extremely pushy about applying and holding a spot. I believe it’s to keep people’s money. I do not trust this company and am very concerned I will not receive my refund.

  I have been living at Novato Bay Vista apartments over the last 3 years, Its a great small community to live in, Great location, Very clean, There is always 3 or 4 professional maintenance crew consistently providing service to residents, Outside property always well maintained, every time you call for maintenance the response time would be mostly within the same day, Management and office staff very professional. For what we pay as rent and what we get back for that money there is no comparison, Yes, There is significant parking problem, But not due to lack of parking space, there is over 200 extra parking spaces available to use, But here is the problem, Every family own 2-6 cars and i seen some cars been parked there for an extended period of time just use as storage, And the security company that patrols the property is good for nothing, In my believe its a waste of money, Simply few times a day they'll drive around and doing absolutely NOTHING, They don't check the cars or mark the cars that its parked at the parking lot for a long period of time, In reality they are there just because its required, In my believe the parking problem can be resolved quickly, But for some reason its not getting done, In general, I'm pleased and grateful to live at Bay Vista Apartments.
