Had been living here for over 5 years and it's a pleasure to live here. The leasing office here is very responsible and nice. The neightbood is nice and the location is pretty good. Two blocks away from 101 and 1 mile from MTV downtown and you could just walk to safeway.
Mira, I give one star because these walls are made of old tortillas. I am sitting in my kitchen, and I can hear my neighbor next door thinking.
But the real problem is the bathroom. It is like a 'Community Toilet' through the wall. I can hear my neighbor, El Tio, in there every morning. He is a very loud man. I hear the 'plop,' I hear the 'splash,' and then I hear him groaning and grunting like he is fighting a Brahma Bull in there! It sounds like a rodeo behind my mirror.
Last Tuesday, he sneezed while he was on the 'throne' and it was so loud I accidentally said 'Salud!' through the wall. He said 'Gracias, Quico!' back. We are too close, man. My kids think El Tío lives in our closet. If you want a house where you can have a conversation with a stranger while you are both on the toilet, move to The Shadows. Otherwise, run away!
Mira, management says they have an 'alternate solution.'
Does this mean the building is finally giving us noise-canceling sombreros? Or is El Tío getting a high-performance muffler for his morning 'rodeo' sessions? I’ll keep my ears open (not like I have a choice with these tortilla walls)!
been here for 10 months. pay like 3.5k. door next to me got through major renovation, for the past 8 months? monday thru friday, 9-5 pm, 5-6 guys working, loud, talking, drilling etc. 8 months man. they told me it’d be done 2 months ago, still going at it. they make 30 story buildings in china in a month..
the garbage truck will come at 8 am every week. you will wake up. the leaf blower dude will start blasting it at 8 am sharp.
you can literally hear the highway from inside. there are 2 huge car washes at the intersection which you can hear.
this place has 0 peace and quiet. it is LOUD.
I’ve enjoyed living at the Shadows- the community is quiet and safe with great amenities, and management is very responsive.

I love living at the Shadows! I have lived here for over 2 years and it is very convenient and peaceful. There is a beautiful pear tree right outside my balcony. It is so fun to watch it change throughout the seasons, from green leaves to cherry blossoms. I also enjoy watching and hearing the birds. Each year a hummingbird makes a nest in one of the nearby trees! The apartments are in the ideal location. You can walk to Safeway, a tennis court, or Castro street. And it is right next to 3 gas stations, the 101, Google, and a movie theater. The staff is great too. They are always quick to respond to any maintenance issues or emails. It truly is a wonderful place to live!
