As an agent in this industry never have a seen such lack of accountability from a Regional Manager, Paul de Jong.
I recently helped a buyer close on their dream home with Toll Brothers here in Folsom, CA. The broker co-op was expressed openly up front and acknowledged. The buyer I represented agreed to increase the compensation and my team and I forwarded an updated commission demand a week prior to close of escrow. Everything was fine until it wasn't.
After closing escrow title sent the check to my brokerage for the original compensation amount. It took me conversing with 3 different departments to get any headway on what happened to the total compensation.
That is when I was introduced to Regional Manager, Paul de Jong. She sent me an email outlining the timeline of activities and communication including the email sent with the updated demand. However, rather than taking accountability and trying to resolve the issue in a professional manner she felt it necessary to basically ignore the situation and place the ownership on me, the agent, who had made sure title had everything they needed to close an easy transaction and have everything clean on the file.
Now, she has stated that they "tried" to reach out to the buyer to make them aware of the situation but it's a "courtesy" to do so. Keep in mind we have closed nearly 1 month ago.
It's a shame that with such easy and open lines of communication that this wasn't addressed and dealt with while we were in escrow. It's even more a shame that there is no professional accountability and zero teamwork.
If you're an agent working with Westminster Title be sure that the escrow officer you work with knows how to identify an updated CDA and is open to picking up a phone or even sending an email to clarify any discrepancies.
