I have always loved it here. The privacy and quiet are good for me. And if you have the proper expectations, you will too.
If you are expecting the property to be kept up like a fancy Bed and Breakfast, you will be disappointed. Cosmetic Things get done when they get done.
The apartments are arranged with the convenience of seniors in mind. With floor-to-ceiling windows, it is very cheery, The kitchen and bathrooms are spacious, enough to use my walker inside when I broke my ankle. There are closets enough to put things away, including a floor to ceiling pantry, and a small washer and dryer in every unit (with a commercial size laundry pair on each floor, for blankets and such). A microwave is built in and there is a programmable thermostat in the front hall. An additional storage closet is off of your patio.
Being inside a building, rather than separate free standing units, means the garbage collection rooms are indoors, right next to the elevator on every floor. The mail is delivered to an inside mail room as well, so your mail is not too hot or cold when delivered. The closed building feels so safe, I often go down to the mailroom in the wee hours of the night.
Another advantage of the closed building is that it reduces energy costs. Only one wall of my apartment faces the outside, and my energy bills are very reasonable. The hot water heater for the building is maintained in a common area, and hot water gets paid for by the complex.
My favorite thing about the complex are the many mature and well maintained trees and detailed garden areas. Sitting outside on my patio feels like being in a forest. I never knew that is just what I always wanted! My patio is my favorite “room” for much of the year.
Lastly, the current managers are caring. They leave you alone until you ask for help. When I broke my ankle, a manager saw me in distress and contacted my daughter so she was aware.
The current management actually cares about residents' wants. I was so touched when they needed to eliminate a dying tree that residents loved, and they wrote a letter apologizing to the residents, promising an attractive replacement.
No other company I have rented from was so consistently caring, and when this new management took over, they reinstated the many activities that the old managers had let lapse during COVID. We have an exercise room, a small movie theater, a craft room, a computer room, and a lovely living room with a working fireplace that is kept lit in winter. There is even a piano!
If I had to choose something to criticize it is that the complex is about 20 years old, and designed with fewer electrical outlets than we ordinarily use today for our electronic devices. Maybe some day that will be updated.
As you can tell, I love my apartment and will live here as long as I can be self sufficient. Today, I have been here for over 6 years.
