  If you have a choice, please do not choose Octave/ Sharps and flats as your apartment. In my year of living here, I felt consistently ignored, dismissed, and cheated by the management. A few noteworthy examples include: An advertised free e-bike was to be given following lease signature. This was repeated multiple times before i signed. I was later told that I had signed before the “window” for receiving a free e-bike had opened and received nothing. The “included” wifi, instaconnect, did not work for our apartment. I was sent back and forth between instaconnect and the apt management until instaconnect stopped responding to me. We had to purchase an xfinity plan to get wifi access. Our AC had a power draw issue that caused us to be charged ~ $700 in electricity for the first bill. Management acknowledged the issue and replaced our unit. They also said they would refund us the money we had been overcharged for, but later backtracked and said we had to secure “proof” from pg&e that this wasnt the typical monthly rate for our unit before we moved in. pg&e refused to give us billing info for the previous residents so we never got a refund for the hundreds of dollars. A large, sun-facing overhead window could not be covered with blinds because the mechanism was broken. The maintenance workers told us that the mechanism to close the blinds was not manufactured anymore so it could not be fixed unless management bought an automatic blind mechanism. Management wouldn’t do this and we were stuck with a huge window that let in immense amounts of heat during the summer. There are more examples but you get the picture. When i saw they were increasing the already steep rent prices i couldn’t believe the audacity. Management will fight you each step of the way if something costs money or requires effort. I will be clear and say that this is probably not the fault of the workers at octave/sharps&flats, who were generally polite when talking with me, but moreso because of the management company that owns the complexes.   Very attentive & caring maintenance team as I am grateful for their help as I had air conditioning help as well as several tasks and they were able to get them all completed so quickly.

  The absolute WORST apartment management in all of Davis. Take pictures of EVERYTHING when you move out because they WILL attempt to scam you out of hundreds, even thousands of dollars. This has happened to me and multiple other tenants. Expect unexplained charges! On top of that they never fixed anything all year and the package stealing is out of control. Please live somewhere else.
