  To be honest im sick and tired of picking up neighbors dog poop. Ive called and complained so many times and they do absolutely nothing about it even when they say they will they dont and instead tell me I need to either record or take photos of people as proof. Confronted a neighbor this morning who clearly was running away from where her dog went and now im expecting some issue from them probably. But theyll be real quick to email me to tell me a 4 inch flower pot on my balcony is a problem citing a lease violation when I can walk through just this area and point out everyone else's "violations" from turf on patios, plants higher than the railings on some. And some pretty ugly umbrellas that dang near stretch to upstairs residents patios to name a few. But apparently I have some unspoken extra responsibility of "beautification" being right on the main entry and again a 4inch flower pot was the problem. While im here ill also point out how ive never had to walk as far as I do just for parking at any other place ive lived. Not only that some of the spots are so tight down the hill that you cant even get in your car if someone else parks wrong. They do not enforce quiet hours considering people will be yelling at the pool until mid night.

  The location is ok, that is the only kind thing I can say about this apartment complex. The daily irritations and annoyances are not worth living close to the beach. The worst part of living here has to be the toilets, the water level is extremely low and the bowl is shallow so every time you need to do a #2 it will not flush or parts of it will and the rest is stuck to the sides of the toilet bowl. It is literally the most disgusting thing I have ever experienced and you have to deal with it on a daily basis. I recommend laying a piece of toilet paper down but even then stuff still gets stuck to the shallow bowl. Also due to the low water level the toilets clog all of the time. The second worst aspect of living here are the showers, which again is a daily annoyance that makes living here awful. The water temperature is extremely inconsistent it will jump from freezing cold to scalding hot. It isn’t only the temperature though, the water pressure is also inconsistent dropping off randomly throughout attempting to shower in the freezing cold or scalding hot water. The back trail where people walk their dogs is infested with fleas due to ground squirrels living in the bushes. Management claims they ‘can’t control nature’ however you can in-fact spray for fleas, there are many dog/nature safe outdoor flea sprays. Our dishwasher and clothes washer were rusty, the water is harsh so your dishes will never look clean and I found rust deposits on my silverware. The kitchen sink clogged multiple times due to upstairs neighbors putting way too much food in their garbage disposal. The parking situation is inadequate, they took away 30% of the parking to gate off ‘luxury’ units at the western part of the property. They took even more spots away for ev charging and for reserved spots. There are not enough parking spots and you will have to walk 1/2 a mile if you can’t find one. The pipes are ancient and smell horrible we would get constant wafts of what smelt like sewage from every drain in the unit. This is unacceptable for an apartment that costs ~$55,000 annually for a 2 bedroom. When the seasonal rains come your apartment will be invaded by 1000s of ants. I have spent hours on my hands and knees killing and cleaning up dead ant carcasses. You cannot keep your air conditioning under 67 or the air conditioner breaks and freezes completely and will not function until it de-thaws. The electrical sockets are loose/old and don’t work consistently, many sockets are affected all over the apartment. I was pressured to leave a positive review by a member of the maintenance team while he was fixing things in my home - this is extremely unprofessional and made me feel very uncomfortable, it also may be why there are any positive reviews for this place. Noise is a major issue, you can hear every single footstep from upstairs neighbors, even the opening and closing of doors. It’s awful, you can also hear other neighbors tv’s played at a normal level. We had many problems with our upstairs neighbors, after the palisades fire they poured water all over their balcony which rained ashy water down on us and ruined an expensive outdoor carpet, management did nothing about this. We also had water coming from light fixtures in the kitchen due to broken pipes from upstairs, this caused major construction work that prevented us from using the kitchen for over a week. Our upstairs neighbors also allow their bulldog to pee on the upstairs walkway, they then attempt to wash it away with water creating a dog urine waterfall that I had to walk under multiple times. This has happened more than four times in the last six months. It is absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable but the complex does nothing about it. Don’t move here unless you like smelly pipes, hearing every word your upstairs and downstairs neighbors say, terrible toilets, inconsistent showers, no parking, constant maintenance requests/repairs, and rusty appliances.   Joie and Ruben went above and beyond to make sure that my move not only went smoothly but I was able to move into the unit I wanted. Last minute changes and obstacles were no challenge for these two- thinking outside the box and making things happen. Independent problem solvers with excellent customer service ! Thank you both!

  Beautiful property, well maintained, and such a welcoming atmosphere! I walked into the leasing office and was immediately greeted by Ruben and Joey. They are both incredibly kind, caring, professional, and eager to assist with any questions I have about leasing or the property. Joey even went out on the spot to take a look at something I noticed when walking from my unit to the office. Cant speak highly enough about my elevated experience at Marea!
