  We have been a resident at the Fourth & U apartments for 1.5 months so far and wanted to share our experience. The apartments are well put together and maintained. We have had excellent response with the onsite management Blair Phipps on the various interactions which should be called out. The new owners have lined up a great onsite team to handle the property. The location to get in and out of the property lends itself as the result of location. Easy freeway access, Amtrak access is out the back door, and finally the Atc bus transit 51b route to the university starts and ends at this location.

  According to a study by scientists at the Royal Society in London, the loudest sound ever heard by man was the eruption of the Krakatoa Volcano in 1883. Clearly, these scientists have never stayed at the Fourth and U apartments in Berkeley, CA. Imagine: after a long day of work, you finally lie down and close your tired eyes, and begin to drift into a much awaited sleep. Right as you settle in, suddenly you hear a thunderous, eardrum-rupturing HOOOOOOOOOOONK. As the train comes rumbling past, the building shivers and shakes as if there is a 4.0 magnitude earthquake. You can be assured that the only dream you will be having is the dream of a good night's sleep. (unless you have dreams about trains, in which case the ambient noise and vibrations will blend in seamlessly with your imagination) I would highly recommend Fourth and U to anyone who isn't a big fan of sleeping. Otherwise, you would probably be better off pitching a tent somewhere in the marina.

  So I really like Fourth&U. The location is walkable to a lot of fun shops (Plus close to transit!!) the property manager is named Blair and she's super helpful and responds quickly. Like everything else, the price has gone up, but it’s reasonable for Berkeley.

  I've been living here for about a year, and I've seen a lot of improvement. Since Blair has been managing the property and having staff onsite, the complex has been kept very clean, and everything is handled promptly. The team is attentive, responsive, and stays on top of maintenance and day-to-day issues. Overall, it's been a positive experience, and I appreciate the effort that's gone into making the community well maintained.
