4 stars is actually pretty generous, but I wanted to give a few shout-outs. First off, the maintenance manager (I believe) is awesome. I wish I knew his name, because he deserves serious praise. He's always been very helpful and nice, and he would always wave to me with a smile any time I saw him. He personally replaced the old appliances in my unit when they started failing, and with fairly nice replacements, too. And the office team were very nice and personable as well. I also really liked the location.
TL;DR The bathroom needs a lot of work, but overall, it's fine, I guess. It's an old apartment.
The downsides to this property are mostly small, but numerous. To start, the gate is always broken, either fully open or half open so you need to squeeze your car through and take care not to scrape it on the broken half. And the speed bumps are HORRENDOUS. They are so violent, I would literally have to go over them at 2 mph or else get whiplash and scrape the bottom of my vehicle. This might be a temporary complaint, but I think they changed the landscaping company in my last few weeks here, or the landscapers got some new people, because they started blowing the dirt from the parking lot and sidewalks onto our cars. So twice a week, every vehicle would have a thick coating of dust. I will say, the nice part of the parking situation is that there are plenty of open spaces, so guests will never have trouble finding a spot.
As for my unit in particular, I'll start with the positives. 1 bed 1 bath, lots of living room and bedroom space. Walk in closet, as well as hall closet and patio storage meant I had ample storage space*. Also, no carpet, which is a plus for me but I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. Now on to the bad. The * is because the storage space only applies to closets. The kitchen is teeny tiny with almost no counter space, no pantry, really limited cabinet space, and small drawers. They also put some cheap vinyl covering on all of the cabinets, which started flaking in the corners by the end of my lease. Same goes for the bathroom. Speaking of, when I moved in, some of the wood on the cabinet was completely rotted and disintegrated at the slightest touch. The aforementioned maintenance man replaced the worst of it, but it honestly should probably just be completely remade. The shower and tub was certainly the worst part of this unit. It was all just painted over, which of course, flaked off throughout my lease. And I'm not sure what it was, but the floor of my tub was sharp in one spot, and I cut my toe open on it once when I first move in. After that, I just avoided that spot. The shower knob was also extremely difficult to move, and I sliced open my thumb once forcing it to the right temperature. After I found it, I just never touched it again because f that. There was also staining on the ceiling that had been painted over, and I couldn't tell if it was rust from a leaky pipe or mold, but it slowly grew and got darker (but never dripped). The last two weeks, two wet spots started appearing on the wall above the shower, and they were completely unrelated to my shower, as they would be wet before I ever turned on the water. I hated showering in this apartment, I would honestly feel dirtier stepping out than when I got in some times. It would take a minute to get warm, but the water pressure and heat were honestly fine. Moving on from the bathroom, the washer and dryer I had in my unit (which not all units have) are half size. If you're someone who can do laundry every week, you shouldn't have a problem, but this just did not work for me. Laundry would turn into an all day task. Also, the washer doesn't accept fabric softener, so take from that what you will. They're fairly new appliances, though, which definitely felt out of place in such an old apartment. Oh, and be warned, the AC is loud. You learn to tune it out, but you will have to turn the TV up and down constantly. Overall, it felt just a little dirty, no matter how much you clean. But, I guess, what can you expect from such an old community.
