Never got our referral bonus. Management is the worst.

My daughter has lived at Sonora Vista for four years (I am her co-signer) and her recent experience with the front office was very disappointing. She called with simple questions about pest control and a maintenance request, and instead of receiving helpful communication, she was met with a dismissive and condescending attitude. When this was brought to managements attention, the response focused mainly on explaining the pest control and maintenance process but did not address the bigger concern; how a resident was treated! Sonoran Vista recently asked residents to leave Google reviews, so here is mine: if your office is comfortable asking for public praise, it should also be prepared for honest feedback. Residents should not be laughed at, talked down to, or treated like an inconvenience for asking basic questions about their home. Additionally, it's the front office responsibility to be available to answer these questions. Period!

Starting to regret re-signing a lease here. Several weeks ago received an email saying we were switched to waiver for rental insurance, despite having and uploading a more-than-adequate policy. Wrote an email, called office/left message, no response (which is typical, btw - unless you physically walk to the office, no one moves to respond). Now today, I get a threatening email saying there is a balance due on our account. I go to our account ledger online - 0 balance. I open the letter in the email, it says we owe $12.50 (yes, twelve dollars and fifty cents) but does not say what that is for. Conveniently they send this msg at 6 pm, when it's too late to talk to someone today. 1. Our ledger says we do not owe anything (nor should we). 2. You send threatening communication making it sound like we are delinquent for a massive amount when it's $12.50 AND this legal-sounding letter does not say what that $12.50 is for. What kind of sloppy office are you running? 3. Why does your staff send communications saying call/email with questions then never answer the phone or respond to emails? If you are thinking about renting here, know that once you are in, the service goes from stellar to sub par. These are not huge issues but they are frequent, and NO ONE ever responds unless you take the time to walk into the office and hope you catch someone there.

I lived at this apartment for just under 2 years, and I wanted to wait to write a review until after I had moved out. Moving in ended up being very stressful due to slow response times to email and the fact that they almost never answer their office phone. I would have to go into the office most of the time to get questions answered. The worst part was that on my move in day I got a call while I was at work and was told that I would not be able to move in because the cleaning ladies refused to clean my apartment due to the AC not working. My question was why was the apartment not already cleaned since I was supposed to be moving in that day but couldn’t because I ended up having to work?! They ended up taking 2 days to fix my AC and get my apartment cleaned before I could move in. I asked to have those days subtracted from my prorated rent that month and they did. I had an older apartment/not renovated one. When I moved in the carpet was not really clean, I had animal hair on my pants when I would sit on the floor to build my furniture, and there were stains. I ended up getting rugs to cover most of the areas with stains and vacuumed a lot and just called it good, but now I see I should’ve complained more in the beginning. Additionally, there was a broken closet door, a broken shelf in a kitchen cabinet, and a broken hand rail by the stairs. They ended up fixing the broken closet door after I reached out to them multiple times. They had mentioned coming back for the other issues but never did. Maintenance was the worst part about living in this apartment by far. If you put in a work order it was hit or miss on whether you would hear back that day or at all sometimes. I had a leak that they said they would fix but never followed up with me, I had termites and the only way I knew it was taken care of was that the mud tube had been removed one day. Just really unreliable and inconsistent maintenance help. There were frequent checks/inspections and they would give 48hr notice but the window was between 9am-5pm. One day I was cleaning my closet upstairs and I was (stupidly) listening to music with earbuds on. Suddenly, I heard a loud banging on my open closet door and it scared me. There was a maintenance worker standing in the closet doorway, and when I asked what he wanted he told me they knocked multiple times and they need to check my apartment (it was a town house so the master bedroom was 3rd level and the front door was 1st level). This man was so emotionless and I started crying (embarrassingly). There was a female worker with him, and I became very frustrated why they did not have her get my attention. I did rant at them a long time lol, and I explained how scary that is for a single girl who lives alone. I do admit I shouldn’t have been listening to music but still that was a bad moment. Anyway, I ended up asking the manager (like a Karen) if they could call next time I don’t answer the door because I often cannot hear people knock on the door. I told him the maintenance worker scared me and had no compassion. Around a week or 2 later I was walking on the treadmill (with my earbuds in) and heard someone saying “hiiii, hiii” so I turned around and sure enough it was the maintenance worker smiling and waving at me. I didn’t complain to the office because I didn’t want anything worse to happen while I was living there and idk if he just thought he was being funny. Moving out wasn’t horrible they just made me upset because they charged me $135 cleaning fee, $95 carpet cleaning fee, and $15 for light bulbs. They have a ton of monthly fees and the utilities ends up being around $150 a month (not including APS). My monthly costs averaged around $250-$300 dollars a month on top of my rent. I really did not end up liking this place if I am honest. It is in a great area, and I was really grateful I had a garage. It is a quiet neighborhood as well. For the most part people that work here are nice, I just feel like I wouldn’t recommend living here because of these experiences.

I've had very few issues with my unit, especially under AMC. But things have not always been this way here. The current office personnel has been some of the best, despite the property being under management by Gen Z and a Millennial. They've not been poisoned by the chaos of the world, and still hold its optimism. The biggest issue in my unit has been a flood from a broken water heater. And revocations in our units years ago--not having access to our living spaces for weeks at a time. But small incidental matters have for the most part been dealt with quickly. Maintenance work for AMC, they are not our personal staff. They deserve the utmost respect at all times. Eli, Tristen, and Peter can be trusted and are very kind, decent people. I have a relentless pigeon problem that seems unsolvable. Bird poo makes my patio un-useable. I have faith. Our leasing agent Gracie has been here about a year. She's liked by everyone! To describe Gracie is to imagine the sun was wrapped in a ribbon and tied with a bow. Gracie is competent and efficient, almost to a fault. However, don't mistake her bright smile and kind nature for being a pushover- she doesn't suffer fools. Ariel is the business manager. She's been here longer than anyone. She knows where each person lives. Between her and Manager Gabe, who's been here for a year, she wraps up finances each month efficiently. Ariel can forget things here an there, but what mother today isn't juggling 25 things at one time? Give her grace. Ariel is not frivolous. And men are never asked to smile, ever. Gabriel (Gabe) is the first truly available manager. The phones at Sonoran Vista don't always work. Emails can take a moment to be answered. If you have a serious concern, go into the office! But Gabe has the last word. And even then he may have to go to corporate. We have a regional named Keri, who is gracious and polite, but her job is really to oversee her staff. In my experience if you send her an email, she will send a brief response or not respond. It must be a corporate rule; "as long as we don't respond to the issue it does not exist". The property has been renovated and they continue with additional renovations as needed. EV charging was just put in, as example. Sonoran Vista isn't the friendliest place, but over time you'll meet some wonderful people. And the rest, ignore. I came to Arizona to attain a lifesaving drug through the TGen laboratory. I live with one of the rarest diseases in the world. Without this drug and others I would have died years ago. I chose Sonoran Vista for many reasons, one of which is Frank Lloyd Wright's long history here. FLWBlvd. nearby. Wright had been friends with my family. In visiting our family home in CA years ago he called our estate, El Marisol, "the most beautiful he'd ever seen" referring to my great uncle Albert Herter's art in every room, along with his parents furniture--The Herter Brothers, designers of The Gilded Age. I was born into Aristocracy, the Noblesse oblige, who unlike the Plutocrats of today, built, gave, were kind, and helped to make this country better. My family came to the U.S. when it was a commonwealth; Quakers, Unitarians, Humanists, the early founders, becoming politicians, ambassadors and diplomats, even helping America when the U.S. ran out of resources. We're the ones who don't wear designer clothes, or have colorful painted nails. We're more comfortable with staff than trusting strangers. I had a bodyguard as child who cleaned his gun a breakfast. I've survived a child kidnapping, years in hospitals, told I would never survive, but more terrifying was I'd have to survive some of the most dangerous people I have ever meet, who once lived at Sonoran Vista. None of them are here any longer. The FBI swept this place. My mother was a WASP heiress, but I am Black. But with this blue sky and the quiet nights, this blue blood prefers a simple life. I forgave the Scottsdale PD a long time ago. One officer involved later lost his life, I was shattered. This is PART ONE.
