Regrettably, our experience with Jim and PMI Phoenix Golden West did not align with our expectations for a property management service, prompting us to caution others against engaging with them.
One of the primary areas where their service fell short was in handling TPT tax filings, which were consistently late and improperly executed, leading to significant penalties that we, as property owners, had to bear. Additionally, their fee structure lacked transparency, with discrepancies arising regarding the breakdown of charges. While we were initially informed of a 17% fee with an additional 7% to be passed on to guests, it became evident that this additional charge was deducted from our gross proceeds, not paid by guests as implied. Despite attempts to seek clarification, we encountered difficulty in understanding the financial flow, contrasting sharply with our subsequent experience with another property management service.
Communication and task completion were major issues throughout our engagement. It took considerable effort, spanning numerous attempts via calls, voicemails, and text messages, to have even the simplest tasks addressed. In some instances, such as with tax filings, we were left to resolve matters ourselves, resulting in further financial repercussions. Moreover, our security deposit was not returned promptly upon contract termination due to accounting oversights on their part, which was only discovered during our own bookkeeping reconciliation.
Furthermore, the management's lack of proactiveness was evident during a platform transition that disrupted property visibility without prior notice to us as owners. This lack of transparency and communication is concerning for any property owner entrusting their investment to a management service.
The quality of service extended to marketing efforts, where the choice of photography services fell short of expectations. Despite expressing a desire for real estate photography, we were provided with subpar images by an inexperienced photographer. This incident underscores a broader issue of insufficient attention to detail and client preferences.
Although Jim initially presented himself as affable and accommodating during the onboarding process, the subsequent shortcomings in follow-through, commitment, and clarity have left us deeply dissatisfied. Despite acknowledging the issues and offering apologies, the persistence of these problems underscored a systemic failure in service delivery.
In summary, our experience with PMI Phoenix Golden West, under Jim's management, was marked by disappointments and frustrations. While initial interactions may seem promising, the lack of transparency, poor communication, and failure to meet basic obligations make us hesitant to recommend their services to others. Prospective clients would be wise to exercise caution and consider alternative options before engaging with this organization.
