  We chose Cabana Southern as my daughter’s first apartment in Arizona since she was starting Graduate Program. It was only 2 years old and had great amnesties except there was no elevators. At the beginning, the living atmosphere was clean, quiet, and safe. As more tenants moved in, the living situation became dirty, loud with domestic encounters, and unsafe. The apartment ground, courtyard, and stairwells were unkept with trash and animal feces and urine that tenants did not clean after their pets. We found a shopping cart in the third floor filled with items and lingered there for a week, appears to be like a homeless cart. From her apartment ventilation and from outside, we can smell marijuana as well as loud neighbors fighting in the middle of the night. Law enforcement would frequently go to these apartments for domestic violence or disturbances. Is this safe for full-time students living alone and feeling unsafe coming home at night? Not to mention, be aware that they will charge you outstanding move-out charges that is not in the contract. I even spoke to apartment staff and was informed that these services were optional and not required except carpet cleaning. We cleaned that apartment top to bottom, cover holes in the wall per pre-inspection, and was compliant with their pre-inspection request. Their move out contract and pack & go services did not mention any professional cleaning with required receipt. It did state professional carpet cleaning with required receipt. So I informed them I will use their services for carpet cleaning. Needless to say, they took my deposit and charged me over $200 for full painting, full cleaning, and so forth. I accidentally took the Cox pre-installed tower but that was due to Cox telling me they needed 3 equipment. So make sure you take photo what was in the apartment first or ask their maintenance. They will charge you. I spent money for cleaning supplies, supplies to patch up holes and paint, yet, no consideration. I disputed the charges but they didn’t even consider my reasons. So don’t even bother cleaning the apartment and have them clean it cause they will just charge you regardless. I would not recommend this apartment complex for the fact how it has became an unkept and an unsafe premise to live in. Additionally, the staff gave me information about move out then after the outstanding charges stated it was a requirement. Why didn’t they tell me that at the very beginning? I wouldn’t have cleaned the apartment if that was the case. I would request an inspection after cleaning if you plan to clean the apartment yourself.

  Ellie welcomed us with so much warmth and energy. She gave us a tour and answered our questions thoroughly. Before we left, we knew Cabana would make a great home for us.
