  They are refusing to fix an issue that would fall under our structural warranty. Water is pouring in around the windows of our home when it rains, causing mold due to water in the walls. The trim and such has also swelling. Our home is less than 10 months old. They will not respond to our submitted repair requests. I had to contact Clayton Advocacy for an update, they stated no one will be fixing the issue as it’s concidered cosmetic. Anything that causes mold to grow in a 10 month old home is not cosmetic. The customer care manager Eugene even stated in an email that faulty construction, which this is, is concidered structural. There’s water even filling up the windows! 13 days later the water has drained but is full of moisture making the window unable to be seen out of. They also installed a unit on the home that is too small to cool. They state the home is eco efficient however when it’s running all day and can’t keep up, it’s no longer efficient. I even have the AC tech on recording both on the phone and while he was in our home stating that the unit should have been bigger and is not sufficient. Yet the factory is refusing to respond. We are still under warranty! The insurance that is also thru Clayton won’t fix the issue or allow a claim because it’s still under the 1 year and states the factory needs to remedy.

  Would not buy a Clayton home again. These folks are like the Wal-Mart of manufactured homes. They did not honor the terms of their own warranty agreement and instead chose to ignore inspection reports, failed to respond to emails/requests for repairs, falsified work order documents, and provided underqualified & unethical workers to perform repairs they did attempt them - the list goes on. I am now on the hook for a $3,500 repair for something that Clayton's sub-contractors and their own employees claimed was not an issue. Turns out, it was. Take your money elsewhere; there are lots of more qualified options to choose from. UPDATE: 06/11/2026 -- Clayton Homes responded to my review, claiming to have no knowledge of me as a purchaser, which they do to many folks who have left poor reviews. This ignores the fact that the manufacturer warranty is the manufacturer warranty, no matter which way you slice it. Whether you purchase directly from a Clayton local office or you purchase a Clayton Home from a retailer, Clayton is still in charge of their warranty for warrantable items. Such a distasteful approach to the running of a business that operates nationwide. Photo attached for evidence of correspondence with an Arizona branch office.

  It's been a struggle for years they take forever to fix issues no recommending this company. They treat you as they give you the house for free. Go elsewhere to spend your money.

  This is my first home buying experience and it was just amazing! Clayton Homes worked with me so that I got exactly what I wanted. Brittany, Rick and Shannon were great!
