I’ve generally had a good experience living here, which is why this situation was especially frustrating.
One thing I wish I had known before moving in is how the centralized package-room system handles oversized or unusually heavy deliveries. After my experience today, I still could not get a clear or consistent answer about what residents are supposed to do in that situation.
I recently received a shipment weighing around 130 lb. When I asked what the procedure was for a package that heavy, I was told to contact UPS. I explained that I had already contacted UPS, and the response I received was, “It’s not our fault,” followed by another instruction to call UPS.
I was never asking anyone to decide whose “fault” it was. I was asking how a resident is supposed to handle a practical problem created by the way packages are delivered at this property. I found the “it’s not our fault” response dismissive and unnecessarily defensive, and, more importantly, it did nothing to answer the question or provide a solution.
I have actually had a staff member, Wyatt, kindly help me with heavy packages on two previous occasions, which I genuinely appreciated. Based on today’s experience, however, that seems to have been a personal favor rather than a solution residents can reliably expect.
I also asked whether the package room could simply decline my deliveries so that oversized or heavy packages would have to be delivered directly to my unit instead. Management told me they were unable to do that either.
What makes the situation more confusing is that management has previously emailed residents saying they had asked delivery drivers to deliver packages “straight to the doors” when the lockers were full. So management has arranged direct-to-door delivery in the past. When I contacted UPS about this delivery, I was directed back to the property regarding the delivery location, while the property directed me back to UPS.
Very efficient system: everyone can point to someone else, while the resident is left to figure out how to move a 130-lb package from the package room to their unit.
I do not expect apartment staff to act as personal movers, and I genuinely appreciate the help I have received here in the past. I also have no issue with having a package room in general. My concern is the lack of any reliable option for unusually heavy deliveries. If management cannot guarantee assistance, will not or cannot arrange an exception for oversized packages, and also cannot allow a resident to opt out of package-room acceptance, then management is still part of the system creating this situation. Simply saying “it’s not our fault” does not make the practical problem disappear.
Aside from this issue, I have generally enjoyed living here. I just wish there were a reasonable and clearly communicated process for situations like this.

Lived here for 3 years before marrying and buying a home. I had moved in site unseen. Genuinely was the best place to live. The staff are kind and attentive.

I have been a resident here since July 2024. All the way 5 stars!!! I looked at several properties in the LR area before making my final decision on The Ridge at Chenal Valley. The last place I lived in for 15 years began to change and I did not like it. The Ridge at Chanel Valley has remained consistent since since I have been a resident. Beautiful grounds, beautiful views especially at night from your balcony. It is such a vibe here. Also, it is very peaceful here which I enjoy the most!!

If you go on a tour with Wyatt, cancel all other apartment searches because you’re GOING to rent here! I struggled to get into contact with other leasing offices due to communication and the size of my dog. This place accepted my German shepherd with open arms and the signup process was a breeze. Wyatt addressed all my questions and concerns. I got a first floor apartment with a pleasant view of greenery. The floor plan of the 1 bedroom is adorable and practical. The only downfall I see is the “large” dog run. It’s on an incline with tons of tree roots and rocks, which is more suitable for a billy goat rather than dogs who want to play fetch and stretch their legs. Other than that I’ve been extremely impressed by cleanliness of the grounds, friendliness of staff and other residents. For an apartment complex, it feels more like living in a condo community. I’m looking forward to my time here. Good vibes at The Ridge at Chenal Valley!
