In 1839, the town of Seguin was named for Juan Nepomuceno Seguin, and there he rode on horseback in a parade, celebrating the event. Juan N. Seguin was one of the leaders and a hero of the Texas Revolution which culminated with the battle of the Alamo. After the Texas revolution, he served as senator, mayor of San Antonio, Bexar County Justice of the Peace and Wilson County judge. A large monument depicting him in his glory days now stands in the Seguin Central Park.
