I recently moved into Hiltop at Shavano and I am so happy with my decision. The apartments are beautiful and well-maintained, and the amenities are top-notch. The staff is also amazing. Ana, Ari, and Denise were all so helpful and welcoming, and they made the move-in process a breeze. I highly recommend Hiltop at Shavano to anyone looking for a great place to live.

I recently toured this apartment community and had a great experience. The leasing staff Brenly was very friendly, professional, and took the time to answer all of my questions. The tour was well organized and they showed me all the amenities and the apartment layout clearly. The property was clean, well maintained, and the atmosphere felt welcoming. I really appreciated how patient and informative the staff was during the visit. Overall it was a very positive tour experience, and I would definitely recommend checking this community out if you’re looking for a new place to live.

I just left my appointment with Anastasia and I cannot begin to talk about how great of a tour and how beautiful this location is. She really put my mind at ease and answered every question that came to mind.

I lived at Hilltop Apartments for two years and ultimately broke my lease to purchase a home. Unfortunately, my experience here was extremely disappointing. During my time at Hilltop, my garage was broken into and multiple bicycles and personal items were stolen. My F-150 also had its taillights ripped off. The reason this keeps happening is simple: the gates are constantly broken. In the two years I lived there, they were broken more often than they were functioning. Security isn’t the only issue. The mailboxes were repeatedly broken into, to the point that for months residents had to retrieve mail directly from the post office. The property itself is poorly maintained — dog waste everywhere, dumpsters consistently overflowing, and trash scattered around the grounds. It often felt unsanitary and neglected. While the maintenance staff did what they could and were generally helpful, the front office management was incredibly frustrating to deal with. Staff turnover is constant — it felt like there was a new manager every 30 days. Calling the office is nearly impossible; phones go unanswered, voicemails aren’t returned, and emails are ignored. To make matters worse, they use Jetty as a bond/insurance provider. My experience with Jetty has been just as bad. The phone number on their website doesn’t work, emails go unanswered, and canceling the bond after moving out has been an ongoing nightmare. Even after moving out, I continued being billed and had to fight to resolve it. A month after I moved out, I had no choice but to drive 45 minutes to the office because no one would answer calls or return voicemails. When I arrived at 3:55 PM, there was a note on the door saying they were in a meeting. Over 20 residents were waiting outside. After nearly an hour, I knocked on the door and was met by a hostile staff member who seemed irritated that residents were frustrated. With only two employees working, they chose to hold a meeting during peak hours rather than assist residents. Eventually, they let everyone in, but the entire situation perfectly reflects how poorly this property is managed. From security issues, to cleanliness, to communication failures and constant management turnover, Hilltop Apartments is severely mismanaged. I would strongly encourage anyone considering moving here to carefully weigh these issues before signing a lease.

I lived here two years, during my first year there was water damage to the third floor, I lived on the first floor. It happened when I was out of town and they entered my apartment without my permission and knowledge, and when I got back all of my things were moved and I genuinely thought my apartment was broken into but it wasn’t. It was just the office staff and or the emergency maintenance who failed to mention anything to me. Before renewing for year two I asked if they could fix the water damage and they did but they made my monthly rent base higher because of it. Fast forward to now my move out date, I sent a email acknowledging I will not be renewing 1/9 and they tried to tell me I never told them. I had to send multiple screenshots of proof just for them to acknowledge it. NOW after moving out at 1/31 this place has been very shady. I’ve contacted multiple people in the office and have been told a multitude of different things as to why I have $500 left as a balance. They sent me a multitude of different contacts and different numbers on who to contact and no one can give me a clear picture, a clear understanding, or a clear explanation for why there’s charges for things there shouldn’t be. Mind you, I’m very thorough I checked the portal day of my move out for a balance, I checked the next day, and the day after and nothing. Now I have $500 worth in charges for 1. Renters insurance, whom I dealt with on my own and told me there’s no charges for cancellation and 2. Fees for trash valet water etc, I know they back date but they’re trying to charge me for days I didn’t live there and renters insurance that on the phone told me I had no balance. I moved out, signed a paper, turned in my keys on 1/31 and am being charged till 2/2 and being told that I requested 2/2, as if they don’t have a copy of the paper I signed on my move out day 1/31. I’ve contacted multiple people and everyone tells me something different. I refuse to pay copious amount in fees for things that aren’t right and yet no one I speak to is reasonable or knows what’s going on. This managment is horrendous, and has been since the day I moved in until now. I’m not one who leaves reviews much but I hope anyone avoids the unnecessary stress that I’ve dealt with therefore I strongly do not recommend this apartment complex purely based off the management.
