I lived in this apartment complex for about 1.5 years, and overall it was a very disappointing experience. The elevators were constantly broken, trash was often not collected on time, and the leasing office staff were unfriendly. There was a huge difference in how they treated us on move-in day versus move-out day — don’t be fooled by how nice they act at the beginning.
On top of that, the fire alarms would randomly go off late at night very frequently, which made living here extremely stressful.
The worst part was the deposit. Even though we paid a $750 security deposit, they refused to return it. Instead, they charged us extra for carpet issues and small nail holes from hanging wall decorations — and forced us to pay all of it. If that’s the case, why did I even pay a deposit in the first place? What is the purpose of a security deposit if you don’t get it back?
This apartment management is not friendly and not fair. I feel completely taken advantage of. I do NOT recommend this place.

I’ve had a great experience living at this apartment complex so far, and a huge part of that is the amazing management team. Ryan with his excellent customer service, Gabby the property manager always making sure she’s on top of everything brought to her attention and Desiree with her infectious smile and relatability they are truly outstanding, they are always on top of things and consistently go above and beyond to make sure myself as a residents needs are taken care of.
Anytime I’ve brought a concern or issue to their attention, they’ve listened, responded promptly, and genuinely cared about resolving it. It’s refreshing to live in a place where management is approachable, professional, and proactive. They make you feel valued as a resident, not just another unit number.
I truly appreciate everything they do and would highly recommend this community to anyone looking for a place that feels well-managed and supportive.

For anyone considering this place DO NOT MOVE HERE!! Living at Tate Tanglewood over the last year has been a literal nightmare! Neighbors are extremely noisy, can hear noise coming from the hallway and ceiling constantly. Neighbors also don’t care how much noise they make, and the office apparently can’t do anything about it.
There are also a lot of smokers that live here, the hallway always reeks of cigarettes, weed, or trash. The “Gated” garage has a gate that goes down all the time, so your car isn’t really secure at all. Throughout my lease there were a bunch of issues with my unit, like the kitchen sink nozzle not working, lights in the kitchen constantly going out, shower head that didn’t work correctly, toilet that still doesn’t flush correctly, etc.
Also cracks in my ceiling from my upstairs neighbor that nobody from the office ever addressed. (My boyfriend and I told the office that the cracks in our ceiling need to be fixed before anyone else moves in, and they turned around and put our unit up for lease right after we gave them our notice to vacate.)
Living next to HEB is so bad because there is always noise being made in the early morning or middle of the night. The sprinkler system in the garage has LITERALLY burst open multiple times causing the fire alarm system in the entire building to go off for hours on end. I have been woken up out of my sleep several times because of all this noise.
I cannot wait to get out of here next month. For anyone looking DO NOT MOVE HERE!!

DO NOT MOVE HERE!! – Especially if you are considering a 1st floor unit. I don’t usually leave reviews like this, but I wanted to warn anyone else that may be thinking about potentially moving here. Tate Tanglewood is a TERRIBLE place to live.
I have been a resident at Tate Tanglewood over the last year and have had various issues since moving in.
First off the neighbors at Tate Tanglewood are extremely noisy and very inconsiderate. The Neighbors I have above me are extremely loud. Kids constantly running and screaming, loud arguments, constant banging, and dog barking. Went upstairs to talk to them about keeping the noise down and they literally told me “My neighbors are noisy too, so I will make as much noise as I want to in my apartment.”
Complained about this issue to the office for 7 months, sent dozens of videos for documentation of each noise complaint, and the office told me there is pretty much nothing they can do. Neighbors across the hall are also very noisy, kids consistently running in the hallway, and people arguing in the hallway late at night.
The walls and ceilings at Tate don’t help with any of this noise as they are very thin with nothing solid between them to insulate sound.
The police are frequently called to Tate so get use to seeing them all the time. Elevators go down at least 1-2 a month. Door for the garage breaks every month, so the “Secure” garage is pretty much wide open throughout the year. I have seen multiple cars left on bricks in the garage over the last year. Also the way the garage is laid out is an accident waiting to happen. The garage is very small with not much room for 2 lanes of cars to drive through and have people park on both sides.
Lot of smokers at Tate so the hallways will frequently smell like cigarettes, weed, or trash. (There are a few nights where I came home and the hallway literally smelled like poop.)
Living right next to HEB sounds great, but is actually the worst! HEB deliveries come in during the night, so expect to hear loud banging from the pallets they move or the alarm from trucks backing up anytime from 12am-6am. (Good luck getting a good night sleep).
Dayrise office staff is only available to talk about issues half the time, the other half they are either not available or busy. The only person useful in the office is the maintenance manger Rudy. He addressed all my maintenance requests as they came up. Him and his crew have their work cut out for them though, as things are always breaking or going down here.
But yeahh living at Tate Tanglewood has been very bad. (I am literally counting down the days until I move next month) DO NOT MOVE HERE!! You have been warned.
I am writing to you today as a dedicated and long-term resident of our community, deeply invested in maintaining the high standards of living that initially attracted me and many others to this apartment complex. While I have largely enjoyed my residency here, I feel it is now crucial to bring to your attention a number of escalating concerns that are significantly diminishing the overall quality of life for residents.
My primary concern revolves around the increasingly prevalent issue of excessive noise generated by some canine residents. What was once an infrequent occurrence has unfortunately transitioned into a sustained and pervasive auditory disturbance. Prolonged periods of barking and yelping are now a regular feature, echoing throughout the complex at various hours, including late at night and early in the morning. This situation has moved beyond mere inconvenience; it represents a significant infringement upon residents' ability to find peace and quiet within their homes, directly impacting relaxation, concentration, and, crucially, essential sleep. The architectural design of our buildings, while promoting an open atmosphere, inadvertently amplifies these sounds, making them inescapable for many. Despite previous attempts by management to address this through community reminders and violation notices, the effectiveness of these measures appears limited, suggesting a need for a more robust and consistently enforced pet policy regarding noise disturbances.
A secondary, yet equally pressing, concern pertains to the noticeable decline in the cleanliness of our common areas, specifically related to pet waste. A persistent and unpleasant odor of urine is frequently detectable, most acutely within the fourth-floor garage entrance. While I commend the diligent efforts of our maintenance staff in their periodic power-washing of these areas, it is clear that this reactive approach offers only temporary relief. The fundamental problem lies in a consistent disregard for established pet sanitation guidelines by a subset of residents. This behavior not only creates unhygienic conditions but also significantly detracts from the collective aesthetic and pleasant environment we strive to maintain. The failure to promptly clean up after pets compromises not only public health standards but also undermines the collective respect and consideration within our community.
These cumulative issues are fostering a growing sense of frustration among residents who diligently adhere to community rules and expect a comfortable and respectful living environment in return. I believe it is paramount that our management team reaffirms its commitment to upholding community standards and safeguarding the well-being and satisfaction of all residents. I respectfully urge you to initiate a comprehensive review of these observations. Furthermore, I request that you prioritize the development and implementation of a more proactive, visible, and consistently enforced strategy for addressing pet-related policies. This strategy could benefit from clearly communicating not only our internal community guidelines but also relevant local ordinances, such as Houston city codes pertaining to pet noise and waste, to all residents. Taking decisive action is crucial to re-establish the harmonious and respectful living environment that initially drew us to this community and that all residents rightfully deserve.
