I have been a resident at Costa Mesa Apartments for 4 years and have lived in 3 different units during that time. Unfortunately, each unit has come with its own set of challenges.
In my current unit, which I’ve lived in for over a year, the oven has never worked. Despite submitting multiple work orders through the portal, emails, and even in person, I have never received a follow-up or resolution.
From August to November 2024, I went without air conditioning in the middle of Houston heat, while caring for my 12-year-old son and my ESA animal. During that time, maintenance repeatedly reported to management that they serviced my unit, even though they had not. I even provided proof showing my AC system lines were frozen, my AC set to 73 but reading 85+, but the issue was still treated poorly. The unit underneath me experienced severe water damage to their apartment as well, due to my AC Issues not being handled appropriately.
I filed a complaint with HAA but also never received a response. I typically keep to myself and try to fix minor issues on my own, but problems like these should be considered emergencies and handled quickly by the property.
Over the 4 years I’ve been here, the property has changed ownership/management multiple times, and unfortunately, things have only declined. Reviews from other residents about trash, the mail room, and unusable amenities are accurate. In fact, I’ve never been able to use the pool in my entire time living here, yet fees for amenities are still charged.
While I am unable to move at this time due to personal reasons, I feel it’s important to be honest about my experience. Overall, I am very disappointed in how this property has been managed and maintained.
