I lived here little over two years, and while the location is great, the day-to-day experience was NOT pleasant.
In short, I faced, roaches, dog poop everywhere, super slow maintaince, bad heating/cooling, high/unfair move out cost.
Details:
If you're considering moving in, here's what you need to know about the problems I faced.
I
My biggest frustration was the constant battle with maintenance and management. The maintenance workers themselves were always friendly, but getting management to actually solve a problem was incredibly difficult.
No Real Heating or Cooling: My master bedroom had terrible insulation, making it an oven in the summer and freezing in the winter. When I reported it, their "solution" was to tell me it was normal and to just leave the door(hall and bedroom) open with a fan on. It did absolutely nothing.
Broken AC... Twice: My air conditioning broke down two summers in a row. The first time, it took them over 10 days and multiple tickets to fix it. I had to get so helpless that I emailed employees/management of their parent company(Gains investment) on LinkedIn to finally get it fixed. The next summer, it happened again, and I had to beg just to get a portable AC unit.
Dishwasher was leaking, it took 10-15 days to get it replaced. (so, be prepared for long breaks)
The community has its own set of problems.
Pest Issues: Our building had a roach problem that never went away, no matter how many times it was reported. Eventually, I just gave up trying. (at least my building)
Cleanliness: I constantly had to deal with a neighbor's dog leaving poop right by the building entrance. (although, when I complaint this to management, they asked for proof, when I supplied the videos, the problem stopped for a few days then resumed).
The valet trash service is also a mess, with some residents leaving their trash out all day.(its the fault of people/residents , not the management). Take a tour of the community, you will likely see trash bags in front of a random building)
Finally, be prepared for the move-out charges. I hired a professional cleaning service before I left(paid $300 to her), and I still lost my entire security deposit and was hit with an extra bill for nearly $1,400. They charged me for the full replacement(~$800) of the fridge because of a stains(which I get it). still, additional ~$600 + $300 of deposit is gone. Note that this is after professional cleaning. This may be normal, but I find it too unreasonable and out of my budget.
In my opinion, you shouldn't even bother cleaning the apartment yourself while move out. Based on my experience, you will get charged an outrageous amount no matter how clean you leave it.
The location is the only good thing I can say about this place. The poor apartment design, ancient appliances that are always breaking, and difficult to reach management.
