i was really excited at the prospect of living here. from what i saw, the apartment looked nice inside and the agent was quite helpful during the tour. i got offered a base rent price that i thought was reasonable as a student. the agent told me that the offer and lease agreement will be sent to my email after the tour, so when i received it, i looked it over and decided to sign the lease. i had a couple questions about the email, however, so after a few attempts of calling the office, the agent finally called me back through a different phone number than what was on their website. after clarifying the questions i had, i continued to follow the instructions from the email to sign the lease. it prompted me to create a portal and sign in, but right when i did that, the website began to glitch. i refreshed the page and then the website said it was down for maintenance. i gave it the night and then checked the website the following morning. it was still down, so without knowing how long the website would be down for, i took initiative to directly email the agent that had been helping me through the process. i explained the situation and asked for an extension on the offer since it was due to expire in a couple days. i also made sure to call the office using the phone number on the website- no response, so i left voicemails. i signed up for their text messages to receive and send texts with them- no response. i also attempted to reach the agent through the phone number that called me the day before- no response, so i also left voicemails. still to this day, i have not received a follow up. i went about checking the website multiple times a day just to make sure i didn’t miss when the website would be up to sign the lease, and also made sure to call them often to let them know that i was still interested, and again, it was rendered useless since they would never pick up the phone or return my calls. finally today, after two weeks of consistently reaching out, i got a text message saying i can now sign the lease through a different link, but they would not honor the rent price that i was originally offered. it is almost a $200 increase in the base rent a month just because they do not know how to communicate and return calls, emails, or texts. ALSO, the move-in date was supposed to be in 3 DAYS from when they finally decided to reply back. this situation is really frustrating to say the least. i did everything i could to ensure that i had an apartment to live in as i started my move for school by reaching out often, explaining the situation, and tried to offer different solutions, all while they did absolutely nothing to help me or even reply to my messages, and when the decided to, they tried to pocket more money out of me from the situation. they could have easily just said no to extending my offer early on or even acknowledging that the lease agreement could not be accessed, and that would have been better than absolutely nothing for two weeks. as i am writing this review, the website is still down for maintenance btw. again, i am a student moving from houston for school here in fort worth, so i have been desperate to find a place to rent asap, and they have definitely been no help. take it as a sign that if they didn’t care to help a very eager prospective buyer lock in their lease, they probably don’t give a shit about their tenants. even in the desperate state i am in to find an apartment, i would not want to live here anymore. they don’t pick up the phone or answer their emails, so good luck getting any sort of help. also, after my tour, i connected with a few tenants on the property and they said to beware, so take that was you will.

I’ve lived at The Ascent with my family for almost two years, and overall, it’s been a positive experience. Like many older communities, we had a few issues in the beginning (mainly roaches and an A/C that wasn’t working properly). However, the office staff genuinely cares about making things right, and they’ve followed through. It’s been several months since we’ve seen any roaches in our unit — I believe it was related to a previous neighbor, and since they moved out, we haven’t had any problems.
Samantha, the leasing agent, is wonderful — always responsive, kind, and professional. She really helps make the experience better.
With any community that offers more affordable pricing during such a competitive housing market, you will occasionally encounter a few neighbors who don’t take care of the property. That said, the community is generally quiet and well-kept. We live toward the back of the complex, so we don’t hear traffic or have issues with people hanging around the parking lot.
Speaking as someone who was once a single mother, I’d also say this community feels safe and family-friendly, which was very important to me when choosing a place to live.
