While my lease was active and rent was current, Overlook at Bear Creek changed the locks on my apartment on 1/23/2026 without notice. I did not discover this until 1/29/2026, six days later, when I came to the property and could not access the unit. Management later stated the unit “appeared vacant” and the lock was changed for “security purposes,” which Texas Property Code §92.0081 does not permit when rent is current.
Due to my line of work, I can be away for weeks at a time, and had I not come by on my own, it’s unclear when I would have been notified. During my tenancy, my air conditioning failed during the summer, requiring three requests before repair and resulting in two $500+ electric bills in a 2 bed / 2 bath unit. Management also changed three times in under a year, contributing to inconsistent communication.
If you rent here, document everything and be very clear about your rights and expectations. My experience raised serious concerns about management stability, maintenance practices, and tenant protections.

We've lived here for 3 years and absolutely love our apartment here. We're only leaving because we're buying a house, but we will miss the cozy little place we currently call home. The staff has always been so kind to us. Laura at the office has helped us so much throughout the last 3 years. She's a rockstar and we're thankful for the time we got to spend in this community.

(Editing to add: not sure why but the apartment complex commented claiming they don’t have a tenant by my name which is 100% a lie. They are fully aware of who I am as I have spoken to them multiple times and my name here is exactly as it’s listed on the lease.)If I could leave 0 stars I would. Me and my boyfriend recently transferred to a bigger unit. (We already stayed at this apartment complex but just wanted more space.) They gave us the keys to move in on a Saturday and upon entering the new unit we realize that absolutely nothing was done between the old tenants moving out and them giving us the keys. There was a drawer in the kitchen full of old sauce packets. The floors had not been cleaned at all (anywhere in the apartment). The ice maker in the fridge did not work and had black stuff all inside it. Inside of kitchen cabinets were dirty. None of the doors latched properly (including our front door). There was brown paper and tape all over the faucets in the bathroom and it was clear someone spray painted it (terribly might I add), missing paint on the walls, a leak under the bathroom sink, toilet was absolutely disgusting (I had to deep clean it before we even started unpacking) etc. the window in our bedroom was broken and not on the tracks correctly. The air vents were absolutely disgusting. Unfortunately for us the weekend we were moving was the only time we would have friends and family available to help and we had already rented and completely packed a uhaul the day prior so we had no choice but to suck it up and follow through with the move. Transfer fees were not cheap and it really put a terrible taste in our mouths that even with over a months notice they didn’t even attempt to clean and prepare this unit for new tenants. We alerted the office about all of the problems and of course all we got was empty apologies. They were able to fix the ice maker and the leak in the bathroom but everything else had been pushed off. We had to clean the carpets and air vents ourselves because they were causing our allergies to act up so bad we couldn’t sleep and were constantly itching/sneezing. The front door was fixed but the other doors still aren’t fixed because they’re “waiting for parts” (it’s been over a month now) I am beyond disappointed. Do not rent here unless you have no other options! We’ve already decided that once our lease is up we will be finding somewhere else to go.
