Excellent customer service—whenever I need something at the office, the staff treats me with great respect and courtesy. Thank you for your excellent assistance.
You will not be able to have visitors and if you do, be ready for their vehicles to be towed.
This complex has allowed Rapid Recovery Towing to prey on its tenants and their visitors.
Rapid Recovery acknowledges that if you try to renew your visitor parking pass before the end of 48 hours, it will go through on your side but it will not enter into their system. They also roam the parking lot constantly looking to tow cars that let the 48 hour pass lapse even by an hour. This is predatory behavior and The Halston not only allows it, but they do not tell you of the issue with the system and trying to renew before your pass expires.
Unless you want your visitors paying 320 to 340 dollars for visiting you longer than 2 days, go ahead and avoid this place in your apartment search.
The Halston is such an amazing community. It has so many hidden little gems and secrets. I'll endeavor to tell you just a few.
Do you second guess yourself alot? Well, you're in luck with the maintenance at the Halston. From the time you put in a maintenance request to when they show up to remedy your issue, you'll have plenty of time to fully evaluate if you actually need that maintenance. Water leaking from your ceiling? You'll have at least a week to think about it. Major appliance not working? At least a month. "Minor" issues like faulty plugs, or holes in drywall? You'll get the whole tenure of your lease to wonder if you really need it fixed. But, when the maintenance personnel do finally show up, they're efficient and good at what they do. (Seriously, they are good.)
Is green your favorite color? Thats great! The pools are often a wonderful shade of green. From a pale pea green all the way through to emerald green, you'll be sure to have your favorite shade at some point!
Enjoy one way communication and surprises from property management? You're really in for a treat at The Halston! They regularly send out notifications about water outages and other issues with a promise for followup information. But who really needs additional emails about water or electricity anyways? It's always a surprise when they come back on, and that is exciting!
Do you hate Halloween decorations up a little early or late? Do you despise Christmas lights out of season? Well, The Halston is definitely just for you! They will threaten eviction if you have "holiday decorations up after the holiday has passed."
Do you dislike the sound of children playing and happy laughter? Then the Halston has you covered. There used to be a basketball court that was the perfect for kids of all ages to play ball, exercise, spend time outside, and stay off their phones. It was used almost every day by the kids of the complex. But don't worry, they removed that to put up pickle ball courts! So they can be enjoyed by adults that don't even live there. Can't have those pesky children enjoying themselves.
Do you like bugs? If so, this place is absolutely perfect. Even though they charge you a monthly fee, I never once saw any pest control for the time I was there . All the bugs and creepy crawlies are as happy and worry free as you could hope for! Especially the huge wasp nests under the upstairs porches, some as big as basketballs!
So if you're looking for excitement in your apartment complex, The Halston is definitely for you! You absolutely never know what will happen next!!!!
Sincerely, a former resident.

Larry and Joe did a wonderful job fixing my dryer and thermostat. They were very knowledgeable, efficient, and made sure everything was working properly before they left. On top of that, they were extremely friendly and professional, which made the whole experience even better. I really appreciate their hard work and great service!

I have lived here for almost two years now. Move in was stress-free, the office was responsive and let us see the unit before we signed (I insisted upon it) even though it was inconvenient for them. I love the floor plan (2 bed 2 bath), it is small but very homey. Lots of windows so there's lots of light during the day, which I enjoy.
Storage in the kitchen is lacking, there's no pantry and the washer and dryer are in the kitchen too. We had to buy a utility shelf for the dining room to store our small appliances and food that doesn't fit in the cabinet we designated to be our makeshift pantry.
The unit is very dusty, even though I keep it clean. I assume that's related to the HVAC system being very old (buildings were built in the 70s or 80s. Dust on the ceiling fans and clinging to the walls less than a week after I dust and clean. There is also mold growing in the windows because it is so humid in the apartment. When it's cold out, condensation clings to the windows, fills up the windowsill, and drips from the ceiling in places.
When we moved in, we had a German roach infestation. Pest control came out before we moved in and one more time after we moved in, and we bought our own roach poison and traps, and we haven't had an issue since, thankfully. Those first few weeks were hell though.
Maintenance can be slow, and things break randomly, like the dishwasher just ceasing to work every few months, or a random outlet just deciding not to work anymore out of the blue. Our AC does not work during the summer, it just can't keep up and our apartment easily reaches 80 degrees+ during hot months even though the AC is running. I asked maintenance to check on the AC and they said it was perfectly normal for it to be 80+ degrees in the apartment during summer and they did nothing to fix it or even try to remedy the situation. A friend of mine has an apartment here in another building and their AC works fine, so it's just luck of the draw, I guess. During July 2024 during a big heat wave (110+ outside) our AC completely stopped working. It was 95+ degrees in our apartment with our pets inside. It took DAYS to get maintenance to even check on it, and although they said they would bring us a window unit to get it fixed, it never happened (even though I asked them about it multiple times). One maintenance man came, looked at it, and said he would have to order a part and it would be awhile before it was fixed (still didn't bring a window unit). Thankfully another maintenance man came to take a look and the problem was actually very easy for him to fix and we had the AC working again that day.
Towing is very strict and they sometimes tow residents on accident. Thankfully the one time my car was towed mistakenly, the office manager called the towing company and they waived the towing fee, but the mistake caused me to miss work.
The blinds are paper thin and break easily so if you have cats, dogs, or children, good luck keeping them intact before you move out.
I have never necessarily felt unsafe living here, although sometimes there are police cars driving through the parking lots and news about shootings here.
The neighbors in my building at least are quiet, but I am on the second floor and I have no idea if first story units can hear the footsteps above them.
Utilities are very expensive ($200+ a month year round), and I think that may be related to our AC struggling to work. It has reached the point where the cost ($1100 a month for my apartment) is not worth it when I can find a similarly priced apartment with the same amenities for the same price. I plan on updating this review after I move out to document the move out process.
