Unfortunately, we did not have the best experience with the Centex Sales Office and we ultimately decided not to purchase one of their homes.
We worked with our realtor and their realtor to view the home remotely since we were moving from a different state.
A few things were concerning, to include the location (next to a jail and across from a bail bonds office). I made the effort to fly down and see the home to put my mind at ease. While the home seemed just OK for a two year stint, the location was not ideal, there were no sidewalks in the neighborhood, and we found out that the elementary school for the Skyview neighborhood, had lower scores (both from research on the web and word of mouth).
The home itself seemed soundproof, but the backyard left so much to be desired with no real patio. This, coupled with the fact that it directly faced the bail bonds building, ultimately was enough to have us take a closer look at what we were buying.
The price is decent compared to other homes on the market right now, but again there are limitations for what you’re getting for the price (example: 2cm countertops vs other builders in the area using 3cm).
After the home inspector came to inspect the home and found that the electricity was off (I think it was turned on later), we decided to pull out of the contract.
Just a heads up to anyone, especially military families viewing homes from afar, they DID keep our earnest money (in the amount of $1,500). We’ve heard some builders show some grace, especially when buyers are buying sight unseen (like military families), but this builder definitely does not make exceptions. It was within their right as per the contract, but it definitely has us looking elsewhere to buy a home. One of their consolations to us was that $1,500 was less than the almost $5k they could have charged us. That left such a bad taste in our mouths considering $1,500 is still quite a bit and other builders charge less in the area.
Overall if you are looking for cheap temporary housing, this would fit the bill, just be careful before putting any money down.

5 Stars – Exceptional Experience with Ashley Grigsby at CENTEX!
We had the absolute best experience working with Ashley Grigsby from CENTEX Homes. From the very first meeting, Ashley was warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive to our needs. She guided us through every step of the home-buying process with professionalism, transparency, and genuine care.
Ashley was always available to answer our questions, no matter how small, and made sure we felt confident and informed throughout. Her attention to detail and dedication to making sure everything went smoothly was truly impressive. She never made us feel rushed or pressured—just supported and valued.
Buying a home can be stressful, but Ashley made it an enjoyable and exciting journey. Thanks to her, we not only found the perfect home but also had an experience we will always remember. If you're considering a new home with CENTEX, She’s simply the best!
