WARNING: Predatory Management, Financial Fraud, and Dangerous Conditions
My experience with Treehouse Management has been a nightmare of exploitation and disrespect. If you are considering moving here, please read this first:
Hostile & Discriminatory Environment: The managers—specifically Jessie—are incredibly aggressive. When I tried to work out my November balance, I was screamed at and kicked out of the office. Katherine provided great resources to help me cover my rent, but Jessie undermined those efforts by immediately up-charging my balance and refusing to work with me.Jessie will try to paint tenants as "aggressors" for simply being frustrated by her poor service. On another note, I have also personally overheard maintenance staff using their work hours to gossip and speak rudely about residents.
Financial Manipulation & Court Discrepancies: They use a "portal lockout" tactic where they disable your account once fees are piled on, preventing you from seeing your balance or proving payment. Most alarmingly, while they harassed me for nearly $2,800 (on a $1,199 lease), they only presented the $1,199 figure to the judge in court. They also mislabel "clean-up" tasks as "property damage" to inflate bills and ruin tenant reputations.
Safety & Structural Hazards: The building is structurally unsound; it sits on cinder blocks on a hill and shakes constantly. Management’s solution to the raccoon and stray cat infestation is to set giant, dangerous traps—one of which nearly caught a neighbor’s pet.
Health Hazards: The property is crawling with, bedbugs, roaches, and black ants, and filled with black mold in bathrooms. Also, they paint over bath-tubs before move ins, so please beware of what you are bathing in. It is an unsanitary and unsafe environment, especially for families with children.
Lack of Services & Support: I am charged $30 for trash pickup that never happens (I have video proof), yet I'm ignored when I report it. Furthermore, being banned from the office means I have zero points of contact for billing resolutions or emergencies.
Treehouse Management will take your money, disrespect your humanity, and then block your access to help.
Eviction During a Family Crisis: While I was out of town caring for a dying family member, management moved forward with an eviction and cut all contact with me.
The $10,000 "Trespasser" Trap: I surrendered my keys at the end of November, leaving the apartment clean. Management knowingly allowed temporary guests to remain in the unit, openly acknowledging they were trespassers, yet refused to remove them until January when they waited for a writ of possession.
Intentional Lack of Communication: They blocked my communication and refused to notify me that people were still in the unit. All it would have taken was one phone call or email, and I would have had the place cleared in a single day. Instead, they waited a month and handed me a $10,000 bill for a "lease break" and for removing belongings left behind by these trespassers.
Thankfully, this fee of $10k will be taking care of with the help of outside resources. Thank you for the provided rental assistance resources, Katherine! Super helpful! Most people would be devastated in a situation like this. Save yourself the stress and the legal battle—do not sign a lease here.
