If you’re looking for a stress-free vacation rental experience, I would strongly suggest avoiding Sea Mountain Vacations.
We arrived at our rental at check-in time to find another family already staying there due to their overbooking error. No backup plan. No urgency. No real help.
Instead, we were left to figure it out ourselves—at 5pm—with a group that included kids and two dogs. We ended up scrambling to find a last-minute hotel just to have a place to sleep.
Here’s the part that truly makes no sense:
We were told the home would be available the next day…only to be informed the following morning that it had already been rented to someone else. This, after they had previously contacted us offering early arrival because the property was supposedly available.
It’s hard to understand how a company can:
Overbook a property
Fail to relocate their guest
Provide no real-time support
Then re-rent the same property the very next day
A refund is the bare minimum—not a resolution.
Huge appreciation to the businesses that actually understand customer service:
Thomas Beach Vacations
Holiday Inn Express
A-Jax Golf Cart Rentals
They stepped in and did what Sea Mountain Vacations should have done from the start.
Do yourself a favor and book with a company that shows up when it matters.
I wish I could leave a zero star. A group of friends and I decided to stay at an Airbnb for my best friend’s birthday. The place we stayed at looked lovely, and for about the first hour everything was great, until we tried to take a shower. The water would not run from any of the showers in the house, but all of the sinks had running water.
We contacted the owners, and at first they said we would get someone out there tomorrow. I asked, what about tonight? They said they would see what they could do, and we left it at that.
A couple of hours later, a few of our group and I left for the afternoon. When we got back, we checked the water and saw that it still wasn’t fixed. So my friend called again, and they said they had fixed it and sent someone out there. At that point I got on the phone and cut her off, explaining that it had not been fixed. None of the showers had running water and only the sinks did, but we only had COLD water with low pressure.
Then she says, “Well, with it being the holidays, it’s hard to get someone out there, but they have another house that wasn’t listed on their website yet that we could go to.” Our whole party was uncomfortable with that but was still willing to give it a try since we really wanted to shower, because we had a lot of events planned.
We ended up discussing it and told her okay, send it to us. She told us, okay, I will send it when we get off the phone. So I said okay. We hung up and decided we were still going to go out until we received the link, so at least part of our group could check out the place and see if we would stay there.
We did not receive a text or call back until the next morning. They had the nerve to text us around 9am saying, “We would like to check and see if you are good to move,” knowing they never reached back out to us until then.
We were promised a link was going to be sent last night for us to look at the other property. When we were finally able to look at the link, it had no pictures, no physical address, just a description of what was there. At that point I texted back and asked what the physical address was so I could at least look it up on the map, which they did provide.
But at that point we were fed up and ended up staying at a different Airbnb that Airbnb support helped us find due to them not helping us.
I have stayed at multiple Airbnbs and have never had an issue that wasn’t quickly resolved. Even after it was resolved, they would contact us and apologize for the inconvenience.
I would never stay with them again just for the blatant disrespect of not having the hot water fixed once we immediately told them and waited for a solution.

I took the time to write this review because it is the truthful and raw description of my first Airbnb experience. Please stop and read before booking.
First, I want to compliment the house itself. It was a beautiful home with many amenities and seemed perfect for our group. I also love how they always answered our call.
Here is why I gave it one star. It was my 22nd birthday weekend, and I had not been to Myrtle in years. I planned this trip carefully, made an itinerary, assigned bedrooms, and made sure my group understood to respect the house.
When we arrived just before 4 PM, the home looked beautiful. We got inside, settled in, and everything seemed fine. Around 5 PM, I tried to shower and get ready for my birthday dinner reservation. When I turned on the tub faucet, only speckles of water came out. I kept testing it in disbelief, but there was no running water.
I called the company immediately. They told me they might be able to get someone out that night, even though it was a holiday, or possibly the next day. Around 8 or 9-something PM, I got a call saying someone had come to fix the water. When I returned from dinner, I asked my friends if anyone had come, and they said no. I turned on the water and still got nothing.
When I called back, they offered to move us to a different house that was not listed on Airbnb. We were uncomfortable with that for legal and safety reasons, but at that point we felt desperate because we were still unshowered. They said they would send me the link, but it never came. I called again, and still nothing. By then it was around 10 something PM, and we felt upset and neglected.
At that point, I contacted Airbnb directly. We were first told the owner would have an hour to resolve the issue, but then later we were told to wait until the next morning. I woke up around 7 AM to check again, and there was still no running water. I sent Airbnb proof, and they still told me to give the owners more time. I was livid. Not only was I about to miss my birthday breakfast over this, but we were all still angry and dirty.
The owner later asked if we were ready to move. I told her I had never received a link, and when she finally sent one via email, there were no photos of the other property on the website. She told us to just refer to the description. I was not comfortable staying somewhere I could not see and that was not officially on Airbnb.
Airbnb finally escalated the case around 8:30 AM and told me I could only get a partial refund for the night I did not stay and a $250 coupon for a new place. That felt like a slap in the face, especially since we had no choice but to stay there the first night. We left around 11 or 12, and still had to pay partially out of pocket for a new place.
All in all, this was one of the worst birthdays I have ever had, and I literally cried over this entire situation. If I had to do it over again, I would never choose this place only because of how the water situation was handled.

We loved this place! It is perfect in every way! Super clean, beautifully decorated, very roomy and it's in quiet area. Beach access is easy across the road, and it has an ocean view from the back yard. It is ideally located to shops and restaurants. The pictures are exactly how it looks too. I highly recommend this place. Loved it!
Second time at this property. Great beach access, very comfortable, large home. EV charger is a plus, although it sometimes has to be shared with other guests who may not be used to sharing.
Sea Mountain Vacations was very responsive. But as important, the property owner was too. The washing machine was not working properly. Within 10 minutes of notifying Sea Mountain, a maintenance person visited to confirm. A repairman came the next day, and ultimately, it was replaced in two more days. We've stayed in an Airbnb where the property owner was not nearly as responsive.
