  My experience with Clayton Homes has been deeply upsetting and far below what any homeowner should expect. I trusted this company because I grew up in a Clayton home and many of my neighbors have purchased from them, but that trust was completely broken. Major code and construction issues were ignored. My crawlspace was not insulated as required by South Carolina code, and my footers were poured and the home delivered in less than 24 hours — even though footers require 48–72 hours to properly cure. It rained during this time, and the ground was never leveled. This created dips and valleys in the crawlspace that caused flooding, standing water, and severe humidity problems. These conditions are a direct path to future mold, mildew, and termite damage. I reported this several times, and nothing was done. Inside the home, I found crooked pillars, cracking ceilings, loose trim, sharp objects under the carpet, crooked plumbing, and improper joining of the two halves of the home. These are not minor issues — they reflect a complete lack of quality control and oversight. On top of this, the manager repeatedly asked me to pay additional costs because they were “over budget,” even though the delays and site problems were caused by their own lack of inspection. They even offered promises of future repairs in exchange for a positive review, which was unprofessional, inappropriate, and never followed through on. The emotional impact of this experience has been huge. Buying a home should bring security and pride — not stress, frustration, and fear of long-term damage. Clayton’s customer service and advocacy team never returned my calls or emails. A promised discount was never honored, and I never received my $1,000 deposit back. I trusted Clayton Homes because of my personal history with the company. They completely shattered that trust. I cannot recommend them to anyone.

  My husband and I are looking for a nice modular home and a few of their homes can be upgraded to modulars as in drywall, smooth ceilings etc., I checked out the reviews on the company earlier and they were very good so we went to see for ourselves. They had three homes there that were upgraded to modulars and they were BEAUTIFUL! Hard to decide between them. We were met at the door by a very nice employee named Nick that answered all of our questions and offered any help that we needed. All of the people there were very nice and helpful. Would highly recommend!

  Brandon has been absolutely awesome to deal with! Our situation has not been the easiest to get worked out but he has been on top of it helping us any way he can. Any issue that has come up and he has been the first to reach out and help offer a solution, truly a pleasure to work with Brandon during this process. Can’t say enough good things about him and the staff at this location. Top notch customer service and will help you at any time of day or night. 5 stars definitely earned!
