  I absolutely adore living here! The Merchant is a place that fosters community and care on every level! The maintenance is phenomenal, Frank does an amazing job. Not only is he incredibly timely in response to issues but he truly goes the extra mile! When my disposal system decided to quit and overflow my sink he not only fixed the issue but went above and beyond to get the mess cleaned up! If you are looking for a home in Charleston I highly recommend living here!

  Heather provided a very informative and enjoyable tour experience. The property is quite stunning. I don't usually choose apartments based on amenities, but these are amenities I could absolutely see myself using. It's a beautiful place and nicely located on the peninsula.

  It’s IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone to answer the phone in The Merchant office called multiple times for an appointment. Spoke with Jade when she could finally make the time for me she sounded out of breath and her tone gave the impression I was inconveniencing her. Beautiful property would’ve loved to apply here but a helpful, kind staff is extremely important to me given the price for these apartments. Applied instead at The Cormac.

  Scheduled a tour 3 weeks ahead of time. Received confirmation text and email the day before and the morning of the tour. Showed up for the tour and no one ever came. When I inquired via email while waiting in the lobby was met with AI responses. The leasing office had weeks notice to cancel or reschedule with us if no one was able to give the tour. Extremely disappointing and unprofessional.

  Beware of the fake five star reviews. If you’re impressed by fresh paint and trendy landscaping, The Merchant might look great on a tour. But once you actually live here, the priorities become painfully obvious. They’ll spend a fortune making the place look Instagram-ready, yet somehow can’t manage basic necessities — like consistent, adequate water pressure. Maintenance requests beyond the simple fixes drag on for weeks or months. Communication from management is slow, vague, or nonexistent. For the price they charge, you’d expect responsiveness and real solutions — not cosmetic upgrades masking underlying issues. Security and upkeep have also been frustrating. When you’re paying premium rent, you shouldn’t feel like basic operational standards are optional. This place feels like it’s managed for appearances, not for residents. Ask hard questions before you sign because once you’re in, you’re stuck dealing with the reality behind the fresh coat of paint.
