State College Collective on Northbrook has been a great place to live so far. Especially for someone who had to move mid lease from another place, it is clear that the leasing staff care and try to help through the transition. It has been nice living here and it has been nice having our pets here with us.

I’ve had a really positive experience with this management team. They are super responsive and clearly take pride customer service! It’s hard to find a place where the staff actually follows through on requests, but they have been great so far - shout out to Joey! Definitely worth checking out if you're looking in the area.

As a mom of a renter in SCC it has worked well for our daughter’s first apartment. While it is a little older than most complexes in the area, it is in good shape and cost effective. They are responsive to issues and recommend taking a look at the various complexes/units they have available if you need to rent. It also helped to have a bus pass included.

Live here for the past two years and if I weren’t graduating in May I’d totally renew my lease. It’s a nice place to live! Especially for the amount of room you’re getting for the price you’re paying!!! Management has room for improvement but they are truly very nice as well and they try their best.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. This was by far the worst apartment experience I’ve ever had, and it completely changed how I feel about renting. On move-in day, my roommate and I walked into unacceptable conditions. The carpet was heavily stained, ripped, and torn in multiple areas. Although management agreed to replace it, it took months for the replacement to be completed. During that time, my roommate developed a severe rash after sitting on the carpet while assembling her bed. We also discovered mold in several areas of the apartment. It took approximately three months for this to be addressed, and the “repair” consisted of cutting out a small section and painting over it. We were forced to live with visible mold for months. Additional issues throughout the year included: • A dishwasher that never worked and was never repaired despite multiple maintenance requests. • A washer that did not function properly. • No compensation or rent adjustment for either appliance not working. • A deck deemed unsafe due to exposed nails and splintering wood, which was not repaired until spring. • Broken window shutters and damaged window seals, which caused extremely high electric bills in the winter. We had to plastic-wrap the windows ourselves because management would not address the issue. Due to the condition of the apartment, we frequently left on weekends just to avoid staying there. The living conditions impacted both of our health — constant illness, musty air, and ongoing maintenance stress. Despite leaving the apartment in better condition than we received it, both of our security deposits were withheld. We were also charged hundreds of additional dollars for “cleaning” fees. We were never compensated for any of the appliance failures, unsafe conditions, or additional costs we incurred. Management was consistently unresponsive, dismissive, and unprofessional throughout our lease. Based on our experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering living here.
